Boudoir vs Engagement

my photographer is giving me the choice to either have an engagement session or a boudoir session.

I have to be honest.... i want an engagement but my fiance doesn't want it.... he wants me to take the boudoir....

I like the idea about the boudoir session but i am very, very shy and i don't know if i can do it... i don't even think i will be able to be sexy>>> :(

what would u do?....

is anyone interested in having a boudoir session.... and maybe we'll do it together ... lol... is this even possible... her boudoir work is www.boudoir.fabuluxephotos.com ...

Definitely engagement - you can't really show your grandma or future children your boudoir pics!

I agree engagement.  We ended up using our engagement photos for so much.... our STDs, guestbook, we made photo books for the parents as part of their gifts for the wedding....  We had our wedding/reception in a Georgian mansion that had lots of fireplaces with beautiful mantlepieces.  Each mantlepiece had a different theme for framed photos, baby picture, family, etc.  One we used for pictures of us together, and we used some of the engagement photos for that too.

Absolutely engagement. It's important for the two of you guys to be comfortable with the photographer and get used to her style before the big day.  Your FI may not want the e-session but it's better to practice and let him get used to it before the wedding.

    GL!!

So true, we considered our e-pics sort of an interview - if we didn't like our experience we would have looked for a different photographer for our wedding. I am a bit camera shy, so I am glad i am going in knowing our photographer is talented, and also a fun, warm person  :)

On a side note, I don't really get the b-pics anyways so I might be biased...as fun as it is for your FI to receive them as a gift, it is probably also fun for him to be the one behind the camera!

Engagement! Hands down. The e-session was really important for us. It gave us a chance to "click" with our photographers and really test our their shooting style. I absolutely love our engagement pictures, and love that we will be able to display them in our home. B-pics would be a nice addition, and I plan on doing them (most likely as a 1st anniversary present) but of the choice I'd def choose engagement pictures.

I agree with all the PP's.  Definitely the engagement session!  Not to mention, it you aren't comfortable doing the boudoir pics then why do it?  I am completely the same way with being shy about things like that.  I could not even imagine letting someone else take pictures of me like that.... it just kind of creeps me out.  And like a PP said.... if your FI really wants them done, make a little compromise to have the engagement pics done and let him take the boudoir pics ;)

<div>...but don't get me wrong, i'm all for boudoir :)  (just not in this case).  You can do b-pics any time.  Maybe save up after the wedding and, like Tashala mentioned, do them for you 1st anniversary.  </div><div>

If it's one or the other, then definitely engagement. Im in a similar boat, FI doesn't want anything to do with engagement photos, he doesn't see the point. And I have a friend that would come down from VT and do them for free!

I did both. I love my engagement pictures so much and they are photographs we always will have of each other together.

The buodoir was fun but not something you will treasure forever.

I think if you have to pick between the two go for engagement. I do like the idea of the boudoir buuuuuuuuuuuut if you can only have one do the engagement. P.S. Yes, you actually can bring a friend to your boudoir and if you both do the pics (separately of course!) a lot of photographers take a percentage off the price, just in case you decide to do them at a later date.

Another vote for engagement pics! I loved our session. It gave us the chance to get used to our photographer's style and how she photographs. It also will give you a chance to get used to being in front of the camera before the big day.

We also used our e-pics for a lot. We made photobooks on shutterfly, used them on our STD's, guestbook and Christmas cards.

    Have fun!

I'd say engagement, but for another reason - if he's not big into taking photos, it will help loosen him up with the photographer so your wedding photos are a lot less painful and look more natural!

I'm going to go against the grain here and say go for the boudoir pictures. It sounds like your FI isn't really into the idea of an engagement session and he really wants you to do the b-pics.

I loved our engagement pictures session and we love our pics but we honestly didn't really do anything with the pics afterward. We had already sent out our STD magnets with a picture of us on vacation (we didn't know at the time of ordering our STD's that we'd be doing an engagement session) and we really only gave a portrait to our parents and then had one in our guest book frame for the wedding. I did boudoir pics as well and DH loooooved the book and it's a memento the two of you get to keep forever once you get old or you're having kids you can always look back and see how hot you used to look haha.
