Unique wedding venues

Does anyone know any unique (no hotels) wedding venues in RI? My sister got married at one of the mansions in Newport so I'd prefer to stay away from that.

Thanks!

    Hi

I just got married August 21st at Fort Adams on the North Lawn, not the Eisenhower House.  The North Lawn is where the Folk and Jazz Festivals are held and you have the Newport Bridge as your backdrop, the Newport Harbor to your left and 12 meter yachts sailing by.  It was amazing!  We had couches and cocktail tables scattered outside the tent for the cocktail hour and then lanterns lit at night so guest could hang outside and enjoy the view while sitting on a couch.  I can't rave about this venue enough. All the guest are still talking about it even the men!!!!! Check it out!  Good Luck!!!!!

Hi! I know where you are coming from. I didin't want a "traditional" hotel either
    Here is where I looked:
    Roger William Casino
    Botantical Center at Roger williams
    The Towers, Narragansett
    Glen Manor House- Portsmouth
Bay Voyage Inn (dewolf tavern)-- not "in" a hotel, they have an outdoor tent
    Linden Place
    The Stone House- Little compton
    and Blithwold

I ended up at the Towers, but now my parents are second guessing my guest list fitting there- and we might spring for Glen Manor (that was hands down my favorite place!!)....

Look through the boards there are other really neat places in RI, the ones listed above are just ones I personally went to.
A lot of people mention The Meeting House in Tiverton or th eNorth Beach Club (depending on your size)...

I really loved the STone House as well, but its very pricey (more expensive than belle mer)

If you are looking for fancy-rustic, I just saw a blog posting about a new venue, Gerald's Farm in Exeter, I assume you have to have a tented wedding though.

Or maybe Mt. Hope Farm (though I guess they have a lot of strict rules)

Newport Yachting Center is a beautiful tent on a pier in downtown Newport. http://www.newportyachtingcenter.com/weddings/WeddingExperiences.htm

Bell Mer in Newport on Goat Island.  If I could have afforded it it would have been my first choice.

Some of the others are Regatta Place, Belle Mer, Newport Art Museum and apparently you can also get married at the Tennis Hall of Fame. There really is a huge variety of places to get married in and around Newport!

Easton Beach Rotunda in Newport, and the Global Heritage hall at Roger William University, Whispering Pines at URI are really unique spaces.
