Affordable wedding dresses in Knoxville/Nashville?

I'm not looking for anything overly fancy and I've seen some things I like at David's Bridal but I'm really hesatant to go with them after all the horror stories that I've heard about them. Most of the dresses I like are "destination" type dresses. I'd ideally like to spend $600 or less on a dress. I'm in the knoxville area but can easily travel to Nashville.

  • I purchased a bridesmaid dress in lieu of an actual wedding dress at Alfred Angelo in Turkey Creek / Knoxville.  It still has a bit of train but is more form fitting and sleek than a normal wedding dress. I REALLY didn't want a big lacy, heavy, etc, etc kind of dress.  It cost about $205 after tax.  The item # is 7043 if you want to check it out.  On the right side of the screen you can change the color of the dress shown on the screen.

  • I got my dress at David's Bridal in Knoxville and actually just bought a rehearsal dinner dress on Sunday.  The consultant I worked with is Stephanie - and OMG!!! I adore her!!! She was totally awesome!!  In alterations, I saw Becky and Mary Elizabeth and they both rocked!

I had to special order my dress, but before it came it, I lost enough weight to be able to "return" it and order it a size smaller. We also had to return/re-order a Jr. BM's dress for a size up. Finally, my mom special ordered a dress, but hated it when she picked it up. She even took it home for a few days. They let her "exchange" it for my rehearsal dinner dress and jewelry for my bridesmaids.

As you can see, I've been a difficult bride. Embarassed Stephanie has always dealt with me with a huge smile on her face! She's given great advice through the dress shopping trips, steering me away from some dresses that weren't flattering and pointing me towards the dress I have now.

I know that DB has a not-so-great rep, but I do think it varies store-by-store. Best of luck! (And if you do see Stephanie, tell her Lauren says "hey"!)

  • I got mine last year at the Dash for the Dress at Jubilee Banquet hall. it was a fun event and I got my $1200 for $200. I don't know if they're doing it again this year or not, but it was totally worth it! :)
Otherwise, you can see if you can find any clearance prom/homecoming dresses. That was going to be my other option, because I had found one on sale for $15 :)
    Good luck!
  • Is anyone going to Dash for the Dress this Sunday?  (Knoxville, TN)  It's the Sunday!!!!

Seems like I'm there every year!  This year, I'm getting a new sister-in-law (YAY!), and we are going to check it out on Sunday.  It's like "I Found The Gown," but with more excitement!

I love this event, and just have to tell you girls to check it out.  If you are looking for a designer gown, there are stores from all over TN that come to Knoxville for one day a year to sell out their discontinued sample gowns.  Such an awesome experience, and all of the gowns are priced at $200, $400, and $600.  My BFF found her gown there last year.  It was an $1800 Maggie Sottero for $400.  Seriously.

Check it out.  Hope to see some Knotties out there!!
