Song or songs for down the aisle

Hello! I have 4 bridesmaids to go down the aisle before me... no ring bearers, flower girls or anyone else. A song I would LOVE to go down the aisle to is just about 3 minutes long... which seems a little short. I've timed it out in my head and I think my bridesmaids and myself can all make it down the aisle in this amount of time, but then someone mentioned that brides usually have a separate song to go down the aisle to. But if there was an entire other song just for my trip down the aisle... there would be a lot of time with us standing and music playing because my aisle is not football field length by any means.

I haven't been to very many weddings, so i don't really know what is typical. Do BMs walk down the aisle to one song and bride to another? Does the music just play out as the bride stands there already to her groom? Thanks for the input, ladies :)

Re: Song or songs for down the aisle

  • All of the above.

I chose to play one song twice to allow sufficient time for the bridal party to walk down the aisle.  Some friends had one song for the bridal party and another for the bride.  Standing in one spot while the song plays out can be awkward but I have seen it done. You get to pick which works for you.
  • You can edit down the song, also.
  • Not only have I seen weddings play the same song for both BMs and bride but the parents too!  So I think as long as you have it timed out for everybody to walk down the aisle one song will be fine.

Usually when the parents stand up everybody else knows to stand up (or they will see that you are starting to process).

  • My bridesmaids are walking down the isle to the wedding version of the song "yellow" by coldplay and I am walking down to "wonderful tonight" by vitamin string quartet... :)

  • Thanks for the input ladies!! I'm going to have the parents walk down to one song then have the BM & I walk to one song I think. I appreciate the feedback!
  • I'm definitely walking to my own music, a wedding I went to this summer didn't change and no one knew the bride was coming. The officiant had to ask everyone to stand. When the music stops, and then changes, its a cue for guests to get ready for the bride.

  • You can go down the aisle to the same song as your bridesmaids it's fine I've been to many like that. I'm also choosing to do so. These are two songs I like and I haven't comepletely decided which I like best yet. They are completely different in length. I have three maybe four bridesmaids one junior bridesmaid, one flowergirl, our ring bear, and my man of honor and we don't know how long the aisle is going to be yet...

    Good luck to you! Smile
