Photography dilhemma! Please help

Hi fellow knotties!

I'm getting married in July of this year in Maui! However, my fiancé and I would like to have engagement pics done here. Is it rude too have a photographer here in Houston only take our engagement pics and then have a photographer in Maui take the wedding pics? I know photographers will fly at the customers expense but I'd like to avoid that... If anyone has any insight to this sort of situation, please let me know!

Thank you :)

Re: Photography dilhemma! Please help

  • This is not rude at all. Lots of people do it.
  • Nope I don't think it's rude, tons of people have destination weddings but still want engagement sessions in their hometowns.

  • civicphotos.com has engagement sessions ranging from $250-350 depending on which package you want and he does an awesome job in my opinion.
  • Thank you all for the advice!! Much appreciated!
  • Now can anyone recommend a photographer who is reasonable but will also do a boudoir shoot? Maybe I can get a good deal for both??
  • Our daughter, had one photographer take her engagement photos and a different photographer to take her outdoor bridal portraits. We have a photography company taking the wedding pictures as a package with the venue. No, we don't think it's rude. Everyone has a different style. She used Ellen's Media for engagement photos and Emily Kiel for her bridal portraits. We are extremely pleased with their resukts. We went to the Mercer Arboretum and Old Towne Spring for her bridals. If you aren't familiar with the Mercer Arboretum, there are stone bridges, big trees, shaded walkways, etc.

    I hope this helps.
  • Thank so much! I'll have to check out Mercer Arboretum!
  • That's totally fine to use two different photographers!  Check out Jessica Pledger Photography.  She's done destination Weddings too, and she has good prices.
