July 2012 Weddings

Bmore, if you're around...

What are you doing?  What are you up to?  How's the weather up there?

Sucks being the only july brides awake.

Re: Bmore, if you're around...

  • haha true! I'm glad I'm not the only one, though! When are you leaving (me) for NY?

I'm at work, just trying to make it through the day. We have a four day weekend in the UK to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (i.e. 60 years on the throne). There'll be a big parade here, free concerts, and LOTS of drunken debauchery to look forward to, haha.

We WERE having an amazingly nice week of weather, but of course now that it's the weekend, it's colder and cloudy. Oh well, I should be used to that by now.

How is the weather in your part of Italy? Any fun plans for the weekend?

  • I'm leaving on the 11th!! I'm so excited but sad that I won't see Marco until the 28th.

My days are so boring right now.  All my classes are finishing up; I worked 12.5 hours this week!   Next week I'm working like 7 which means that the week is really going to drag.  I guess I can use that time to pack, lol.

Yeah, same here with the weather.  It had been hot and sunny all week and today looks pretty overcast.

The Jubilee sounds fun! Tomorrow Italy is celebrating the day it became a republic.  But the current political/crisis/eartquake situation makes it seem like there isn't going to be much of a celebration (not that they do anything more than a parade, italians are so unpatriotic).

I have an end of year party with my school tomorrow (yay).  All the languages bring food from their country (so there's an English/American table) only good thing is that there's a Caribbean Cocktail table and the frenchies always have wine ;).

Dress fitting today, too (I had a 'momemt' with the dress last time but I'm still not completely thrilled).

Tell me,  you went to London because your FI is doing his residency there? Are you going back to the states eventually?

  • My FI is in medical school over here, actually, so he still has one more year of this until residency, which he wants to do back in the U.S. He wasn't a U.S. citizen when he was applying to medical schools, but he is now so it shouldn't be too hard for him to land something back in the U.S. I really have liked living in London, but I wouldn't want to settle here. It's tough being away from all of my family and friends, and the British are kind of hard to make friends with, IMO. A lot of the time I feel like a huge outsider. My FI is Peruvian and Croatian (and now, American), so we don't really have a reason to stay in the UK.

I am hoping next year (after the wedding, basically) that we'll have more free time and some money available to travel around Europe a bit more. I want to take advantage of being over here as much as I can. Italy is definitely on my list of places to go! We have only been to Rome so far, but I would love to see Florence and Venice.

Ooh the end of year party sounds fun! I wonder what they will have at the American and Engish table? English food sucks, but maybe they'll have some good ales? BBQ is probably my most missed American food since I came here... and mac & cheese! MMMM.... I think I'm hungry for lunch now!

  • Just returned from dinner and bowling with my FIL. Today in Sacramento, CA northern CA, it was 100'. Our first 100 of the year! But the weather has decided to calm down and will be in the low 80s and 70s in the next coming week.
