DW West Coast FL- Need help!

My fiance and I are from Chicago and are hoping to do a DW somehwehere along the west coast of FL- Clearwater, St Pete's, anything really!  We would like to do a beach ceremony and have an ourdoor reception for about 50 people or so.  We are trying to keep costs down as much as possible.  My fiance's dad just passed away a few months ago and we are helping his mom out financially so money is not abundant right now!  Just wondring if anyone had any suggestions??? We were interested in doing a resort- Sirata, Hilton in Clearwater, Marriott in Key Largo???  Like I said, we're kinda ll over the place! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm doing mine at the Tradewinds on St. Pete Beach.  We're doing a beach wedding and outdoor reception.  I'm not sure what your budget is but I would recommend a lunch or non-Saturday wedding if you're trying to save money but still have it at a resort.

I live near Clearwater Beach, so I'm biased... but I *love* Clearwater! It's "home" to me, but it still has tons of restaurants and fun bars. I love Sand Key Beach (a little quieter than Clearwater, but right next door). You won't be disappointed with either of your options though. It's very nice here. =)

    1.  Your bio says your wedding will be August 14, 2010.
It's possible to pull a wedding together in just a few weeks -
my DH and I are both teachers who waited until after school was out to get the ring in June, get married and have a HM in July, and get back to work at the beginning of August.
But you really can't be suggesting an outdoor ANYTHING here in mid-August.  It's so hot and humid that it's hard to breathe.  No one here goes to anything outside - from weddings to music festivals, etc. - in July and August.  We went to a Tampa Bay Bucs football game the last Sun of Sept two years ago, and it was so very hot that over 20 people had to be taken to the hospital (not because they were drunk), and about 80% of the rest of the people left at halftime.  Just too hot to be outside.

    2.  I agree with the previous posters.  The west coast is beautiful, and I would second the idea of Tradewinds - it is a world class resort that is affordable with people who will work with you on what you want and how much you can pay (unlike the Don CeSar, which is prettier and more unique but their minimum is very high and they really don't want to accomodate changes in their standard packages).

Another affordable west coast beach venue is Pink Shell Resort  on Fort Myers beach. They are usually willing to work with people to customize their packages. August is super hot in FL but you can maybe get away with a late ceremony and an indoor reception if you want to take advantage of off-peak rates and are really set on August. A lunch reception is a great money saving suggestion too! Good luck!

    Hi,
I did a small destination wedding at the Sirata for 40 guests.  We got married on the north deck and and had the reception inside.  They were really easy to work with.  They have an intimate package for 50 or less people.  I was able to do everything with a limited budget.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

We got married in June at the Bilmar, which is in Treasue Island - we did ceremony on the beach and reception in the beach bar - it was inside and out on the patio under a tent.  PM me if you would like more details or would like to see pictures.
