Catholic churches?

Hi,

I started looking at Catholic churches for my wedding and realized that you have to be registered parishioner at least 6mos/1 year before they let you get married in the church. My problem is that I am registered at my old church in west la but moved to SGV last year and never registered at a church here. If I end up deciding to have ceremony and reception around where i currently live, I don't know of a church that would be flexible with their requirements. Anyone have had experiences with this? Anyone know of a church that isn't strict wityh their rule about being members for at least a year?

Try St. Philip the Apostle in Pasadena.  I heard they are not too stringent on those specific rules  - www.stphiliptheapostle.org. Good luck and keep us posted!

As far as I was told, as long as you're a resident, and have at least 6 months, you're good to go.  And the residency is not as strict as the 6 months part.  It does not hurt to try calling the churches in your area, to see their conditions.

I think St. Denis in Diamond Bar marries couples even if they aren't registered parishioners. It's a really beautiful church.

thank you for this thread, i found it very helpful.  I looked at St Vincent de Paul pictures online and it is a beautiful church indeed... We were originally looking at St. Brendan in LA but they are very strict, you have to be 6 mos registered and an active member.  Does anyone know if Our Lady of Angels Cathedral has any registration requirements???? Thank you!

Hi =] I was wondering what rules/regulations St. Vincent De Paul has. I'm very much interested in getting married there, but unfortunately all their orientateions have been ondays when I'm out of the state for work. By any chance do you know how they would accept my fiance being a catholic with his first communion, confirmation and all that, but me not being catholic? Thnaks so much for your help Laughing
