How do i word my invites for people to just come to the reception? and we are looking into catering as well, still have to pick colors and get decor. Like i said i need big help, any suggestions would be awesome!

Honestly, I would probably just google wedding invitation wording and see what you come up with.  Usually there are lots of options to look at and there might be something that fits your needs.

As far as catering, what is your budget and what style reception are you hoping to have?  You could look into Blue Mesa, On the Border, Central Market, Maggiano's, etc.

Relax.  You have plenty of time to figure everything out.  Take a deep breath and just realize that it will all work out.

You'll be alright. You don't have a lot of time to dilly dally, but it can certainly be done in 6 months or less - I've seen it happen! If you start to think about everything that has to be done, you'll get overwhelmed. Just focus on one thing at a time, and before you'll know it, you'll have so much done!

And please let us know if you have any specific questions, we like to help!

Like PP said, 6 months is plenty of time. You just need to breathe and get organized. It sounds like your ceremony is pretty set. The next thing to do is make sure you have your dress and reserve a location for your party.

Invites ARE important, but they don't really need to go out until 6-8 weeks before. Start looking at wording online and get some ideas. If you go to a stationary store (Magic Pen and Paper in Grapevine, Swoozies, etc) they'll also be able to help you with wording.

Beyond that, get on The Knot Checklist and start marking things off that you've done, or don't apply. I also knocked off anything that had wording like "start thinking about." They just made the list longer and stressed me out. Then take it one thing at a time. You really do have lots of time Laughing

Ditto what everyone else said.  I've been to a reception where most of the guests didn't get to go to the wedding and it was fine.  I did mine in a little over six months but you can do it!!!!

    Finally! One for me!

Here's how my reception only invites were worded:

(Bride's parents) request the honor of your presence at the reception celebrating the marriage of their daughter (my name) to (his name) son of (Groom's parents) on (wedding date) at (wedding time).

I planned my whole shebang in 6 months from engagement to wedding. It's stressful, but totally doable.

You know, a backyard reception is pretty much like planning a backyard cookout or family gathering, only you will send out invitations in advance, have a cake, and it might be a little fancier.

You could essentially plan this in a few days to a few weeks if you really had to.  But good thing you don't have to, and you have 6 whole months.  That's plenty of time.

Figure your budget, how many people you can comfortably accommodate, and  that will give you an idea of how fancy of a reception you can have.  Whether it's catered, with rented tents, dressed out tables, a DJ and portable dancefloor, or if it will be hot dogs and chips served on card tables with plastic tablecloths and your Ipod for music.

Thanks Ladies for all the help. We have a theme in mind kinda troprical, our colors are aruba blue and orange. My FI wants to have a pig roast, so thats fine with me and we are thinking about renting a bar for the night, we do have a DJ coming. and we are renting the tents for the backyard. We actually got alot done today with talking about what we wanted to do and how we wanted everything to look. Im getting more and more excited.
