Ring Engraving/Resizing

What is a normal amount to pay to have rings engraved? What about resizing? We're planning to get this done this weekend, but I really have no idea what's reasonable.

Mine was included (Kay)... some of the bouotique stores do charge seperately, but I don't know the average rate. sorry

We can't get them done where we got the rings (mine's from NYC and we're not going back there and FI's is his deceased godfather's). Hopefully someone else can help!

I got my ring from Kay's and they include sizing but they have to send it out for about 2 weeks. And since I'm a big baby about not having my ring for 2 weeks, we're getting it sized at Jewelry on James (James Street). To get it sized in 24 hours it's only about $30. Don't know about the engraving though!

I've paid upwards of $50 for a re-sizing (with a sizing bar). They only took 2 days to finish it, so it was totally worth it. I've also had a very bad re-sizing experience, and I'd say you get what you pay for in this instance. Good luck!

My engagement ring came from a family owned jeweler and re-sizing and cleaning were included for life. So I have no help with how much it should cost, but I would suggest going to a local jeweler because they set their own prices and you can actually negotiate with them since they don't have to "check with corporate" or adhere to a company pricing standard.

I called around a little bit. Depends on the metal and size it seems. One place quoted us $35+ to resize a man's yellow gold ring. The place where I really want to get our rings fixed and engraved refused to give me a price over the phone because "it depends." That worries me. But I did find another engraving place that would cost $25ish per ring. Not sure if I trust them though as they're not a jewelry store.
