so mad at davids bridal!

So,
I went to davids on saturday to pick up my dress. The dress that i orgainlly tried on fit ok but was a little snug in my hips. So they order the next size and when i got it its really big in my hips but a little snug on the top with you clip it. I mean it fits and you can zip it all the way up but its kind of uncomfortable and felt like it was pushing on the spine if that makes sence.

(side note: when i 1st tried it on with the bra i brought it didnt fit and i freaked the f out. And then they gave me a davids bridal bra and it fit - who knew that a bra would make a difference)

Anyway, so after all that drama i wanted to see if I could get it taken out just a little bit so it would be a little more comfortable. So they sent me over to alterations and the witch of an seemstress said to me. "Can't you just excersize and lose some weight" WTF. I thought that was so freaking rude. Like yes, i can excersize and lose some weight but that doesnt mean ill lose it in the right freakin spot. I was so like stunned that she said that ot me lol. And i told my sales person and the manager and they didnt even really react. ugh. biotch.

next, they sold me a bra that is the wrong size, that i didnt realize until I got home.
next, they didnt order my skirt thing for underneth my dress, so now that has to get mailed to my house.

it was just a overall horiable day and i did not feel like I thought i should feel, being a bride picking up her wedding dress.

  • Yeah, I think David's Bridal's service generally sucks. I had a pretty bad experience buying my dress there. Sorry they were so rude to you! If you can, you might want to find a different tailor to take out your dress. I took mine to an independent place and got a great deal on my alterations. I've heard that David's charges a lot more.

  • I would be more than LIVID!! I would contact someone on their website and let them know what that rude ass said to you!  I ordered my invites from Davids bridal.com, 125 and then they arrive within days and realized the FI middle name was spelled wrong, my mistake...I contacted them about it and they let me re-order just 25 (for his side of the family and his friends) at a 40% discount with free shipping.. I was very pleased with their customer service.  2 weeks ago, I ordered 2 BM dresses during their big online sale, received one with an ink mark on the front and no sash came with it..I contacted them right away and today, I got a new dress with no ink mark! So my experience with them has been pretty good, but everything was done online, I havent been in a Davids bridal store since I got my prom dress in 05 and the lady who did alterations wasn't too nice (as my Mom was expecting)..Sorry your having trouble and I would not let it go, I know there is a manager that is OVER the manager where you went..Here is their customer service # 1-866-973-0238..Good luck!

  • That sucks:(  DB seems to vary from store to store.  I had great experience with mine but was nervous due to all the horror stories.  I would take it to an independent seamstress.  I heard DB alterations are expensive, and this way you wont have to deal with them anymore.

    Good Luck!

  • I'm with m tulli, I loved my DB store and consultant!  The initial alterations lady I dealt with was also great.  The 2nd alterations lady was not very friendly, but mostly professional, so it was ok.  I do think you should report the alterations lady for her comment! Way out of line!! Sorry you had to deal with this!

  • The only time I've dealt with David's is for my bridesmaids dresses. I didn't go instore, I ordered offline. Not dealing with the sales staff was probably what kept me from having a bad experience. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Boo them.
  • I'd call and complain, do you remember the name of the alterations lady?  I'd also take my alterations somewhere else!!

Ok, my DB experience was for my bridesmaids dresses.  We had like 5 minutes to grab dresses (after waiting almost 15 for our consultant), and she was rushing us through trying on dresses, we had 1 on and she was like "have you picked yet?"!
Not to mention she took my sheet of paper with my favorites before we started and just threw it away!!!

That was a bad experience, but when my sister and I went to DB for her wedding we had a fantastic experience.  It must vary store to store and day to day.

  • We had good luck with David's Bridal.  Bridesmaid's dresses all came in early with no issues.  Had fun shopping.  Sales staff picked tons of dresses for the girls to try on and gave us some helpful hints, like how wrinkly some of the fabrics can get.  I should have looked around at different alteration places, but I went with them out of convenience.  I got one of the less experienced tailors and she seemed a bit overwhelmed at times, but was polite and professional and totally patient with me for changing my mind a million times during the initial measuring!
"Can't you just exercise and lose some weight?"  Ridiculous.  Don't know how I would have responded to that.

i had 1 consaltant that stuck with me through all my decision making and even asked me why i picked a dress only over 100 times that i didn't even want to try on. so she made me try it on and **surprise** thats my dress. then the next time i went for my BM dresses to make m final decision...i had a girl that i saw AFTER i picked the dresses i wanted and before we walked out the door. the girl that did my dress helped me more. i ended up going back that weekend with both my girls and begged the 1st lady to help me, and she did. i love my manager there (she even offered me a job :)
but i will say my alteration people aren't as friendly...she's given me 2 different prices for my dress alteration. but i think i'm just going to suck it up due to the good experience i had with my consaltant and the manager.
  • I have never liked David's Bridal. My daughter and I went there to find a dress for her. She will be 8 months pregnant on my wedding day. They were not helpful at all. When they asked if I was registered with them and I replied no because I was making my own dress, they were quite rude. Their comment was, Oh, well if you are making your own maybe you could make hers as well. We ended up finding a beautiful MOH dress on e-bay.
