Question for the doctors in the house

Re: Question for the doctors in the house

  • I think they were trying to down play the cocaine issue.

The only thing I can think of is she had a heart attack due to all of the drugs in her system and then drowned. Otherwise, I don't understand why it would be mentioned as a contributing factor.
  • Well if she was taking a bath and had a heart attack or something that made her dizzy/pass out, it's very plausible.  But yes, probably mostly the cocaine.

Well, I'm not a doctor, but I stayed a Holiday Inn last night, and I'm pretty sure that cocaine can increase your risk of a heart attack.  SO, if she already had heart disease, the cocaine would raise her risk even more, potentially triggering a heart attack, and hen she drowns in the bathtub.

    Booyah!

  • I hate to be naive but I did always believe that cocaine could damage your heart.

Maybe I watch the evening news too much.

The toxicology tests found other drugs in her body, including marijuana, the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and the allergy medicine Benadryl, the report said. But these drugs "did not contribute to the death," it said.

My God, that is a lot to have in your system.
    Benadryl alone makes me tired.

Eff that, the formatting was driving me nuts.  Basically though the main thing was that cocaine causes the blood vessels to thicken and constrict, which reduces blood flow to the heart.  Her heart had decades of damage done to it already, and cocaine also makes the heart muscles work harder which can lead to a heart attack even in healthy people.

  • Not a dr but maybe some heart issue related apnea caused her to gasp and inhale water instead of waking up normally when she drifted away and into the water
