Happy Tuesday!

Ahhh it's a crazy week.  How is it *only* Tuesday?  Thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing.  I went to my first pilates class yesterday in about 6 months, and holy freaking ouch -- and I even cheated and didn't do all of the exercises!  Walking down the stairs this morning was kind of dangerous because I was kind of just "falling" onto each step trying to minimize knee bend.  Boo.

LoL, Tanq sounds like you got a good work out.  I miss feeling like that some days.  But I bet you feel good in knowing you acciomplished pilates.  I feel better today than I did yesterday.  That's for sure.  Gloomy here today so I'm just trying to recruit friends to come join me in taking birkham yoga classes.  So far I managed to snag one girlfriend.  Hope you feel better.

    Bikram is intense!

I haven't done pilates before. Do you do the class where they have all of those weird machines?

I'm going to our gym for body combat tonight. It's an awesome kickboxing class. I burn a ton of calories in it and it's a great workout for my upper body, which I'm really focusing on since my dress shows it off!

Tonight is just a low-key kind of night, gym then making dinner and then relaxing. We're going to look at a few more houses tomorrow night. I'm really hoping we can find "home."

No weird machines!  Those things scare me.  I am worried I'll somehow hang myself by my ankle or something.  My class is this weird hybrid of pilates, yoga, and barre -- some light weights, lots of reps, tiny tiny tiny ranges of motion.  60 minutes of pure pain, but in a good way.  If you watched from outside the window, you would laugh b/c it looks like we're not doing much.  But I assure you, it hurts!

Interesting! I do bodyflow a couple of times a week which has a tai chi warm up, some yoga (like sun salutations and warrior sequences) and pilates for core work. It's a really great mixture of hard work and a nice stretch.

I've always wanted to try pilates! I start my day with a round of 100s every morning.

We're off to see Carrie Fisher in her show Wishful Drinking at the theatre tonight. Yep. That's about it for my big plans.

100s are a pilates move.  I'm guessing she does them every morning. I do a combo pilates yoga glass about once per week.

I'm tired and it's after 5, but I have to work late tonight for adoptive parent orientation. Then I have to go to the grocery store. Hope I make it through the night without falling asleep!

Yes, it's a pilates move. Basically has you lying on your back with your legs at a 45º angle to the rest of your body. You lift your head and shoulders, stretch your arms out by your legs and then do 100 small pulses with your arms while holding the position.

I've been doing the variation in the video here:

It's fantastic. I swear, I've taken an inch off my waist by doing this every morning for the past month!
