I am having the hardest time trying to find someone who will do this for us. Everyone says they are booked. :(

We are doing actual place cards (one card for each guest sitting in front of their charger/place setting at the table). We did what Meagan did - DIY'd them with a calligraphy=-esque font. I wanted to make it as easy as possible on myself.
Since they are being set out at each table, we have to have them organized by table and placed in a clock-wise order starting with seat 1 and ending with seat 10. This is going to be the biggest PITA ever.
Well, in terms of escort cards, we're supposedly doing a seating chart but I am having issues finding a calligrapher that will write it out for us on such short notice. May end up with regular escort cards, which pisses me off.
As far as "place cards" at the tables, we're doing place settings with each person's name written out on a gold doily with a clear charger plate over it to keep it in place (and I'm writing the names out myself using a Sharpie Calligraphy pen):

<div>Yah, I didn't realize it myself until a few months ago. Place cards go at the individual seats. They are often used if you have a big chalkboard or other kind of sign that tells ppl what table they are at, but doesn't give them a physical card to take with them (i.e. "escort" them) to their table. </div><div> </div><div>If you only want to assign ppl to tables, but not specific seats, they are not needed.</div>
We're doing escort cards (I didn't realize there were separate names for them either, but it all makes sense now! lol) and we're printing them. I'm having trouble with the order they will go in...but honestly, there aren't going to be that many since I am doing it per couple/family. This makes it kind of hard for alphabetical order when you have a couple with two different last names. But, I think since we will end up with around 30-40, it might not be so hard to just find them. We are growing grass and setting them in the box of grass-they have flowers on them, so supposed to be like flowers growing in the grass, I guess lol
I wrote mine by hand in script with a purple pen. I just used the venue's cards because they were free and I feel like people will throw them away anyway lol. We have to submit them in alphabetical order.
My escort cards are actually their mason jar to drink from for the night. I put chalkboard label stickers on the jar and wrote each guest's name on one in silver Sharpie. These will be laid out in alphabetical order. We have paper straws which I made little pennant flags out of shimmery paper that slide onto the straw that says what table they're sitting at.
My place settings are black river stones with each guest's name on it and it is set on top of their napkin and menu card on their plate.
Re: Place Cards
Are you guys putting these in alpha-order or what?

<div>Same here.</div>
My venue requires them handed in in ABC order, as well.

and here is an example of our place settings (although we still need to print the menu and tuck behind the silverware).
