October 2012 Weddings

Tasting Tonight!

So we are getting married 10/6 and the venue has been booked for a while but we have been slow to make our final menu choices.  It really hasn't held up the process since we printed the menu cards with the dreaded "beef" or "chicken"....we just didn't know what kind our guests would be eating.  ;)  Tonight we will be taking our MOH and BM to sample our finalists and make selections.  Any advice for the tasting?

Re: Tasting Tonight!

  • Ours was really fun!  We brought my FMIL and it was pretty funny.  They definitely indulged us with champagne when we got there.  Then during the salad course, our coordinator asked if we would like to taste the wine that will be served....yes!  haha  We were all triple fisting during dinner and FMIL was pretty tipsy by the end!  The food was pretty amazing, so that was a relief.  My biggest satisfaction was when FMIL said she was really happy with our selection and excited about our wedding being there because before that, she was second guessing everything and even suggested moving our venue about a week before that!

    Just enjoy yourself!

  • My only suggestion is for hors d'oeuvres.  Before you taste it, look at it in detail.  Is it pretty, is it small enough or an awkward shape?  Although taste is the most important you want it to look nice and be easy to eat standing up.

    Have fun!!

This is a good point!  Our first tasting they had a bunch of hors d'oeurves that were huge and hard to eat while also holding a drink!  We are doing satay since they are on a skewer and easy to eat!

  • I should add that I am not always the best about "tasting" food, as opposed to "eating it all, and shoving it in to my face, and then licking the plate for crumbs", so... ;)

  • Definitely have fun!! We're having a buffet of BBQ (we're being kinda laid back) and easy appetizers (can't spell the french version hahaha). But I did two tastings because we're getting our wine from a local winery where we're club members (so big discount for amazing wine!) so we had a lot of fun with everything :)
