How are you leaving your ceremony?

And by this, I don't mean is there a vehicle that is taking you out, but rather, what is being "thrown" in your direction? My ceremony site does not allow rice or flower petals... I really would rather not use bubbles.

It's an early evening wedding so sparklers might not look right and that may end up being our "farewell" from the reception anyway.

So, basically, what are some other "fun" ways you will be leaving? Please share any and all ideas... I've thought about grass seed but I have no idea how to go about getting it.

    There is biodegradable confetti, it desolves when it gets wet. it doesn't leave color stains on clothes etc.  The cheapest place i found it was save-on-crafts.com and it comes in some different color combo's.  I would like to do this, but am trying to figure out the logistics, as we are getting married on the front porch of a historical mansion and the cocktail hour is inside, and the reception out back :-)

    Make sure you ask your venue if you can use it before you buy it, but I don't see why they wouldn't, the next good rain and there will be no evidence of the confetti, and I think its starch based so even if a curious animal eats it they won't be hurt

    We're walking from the atrium out to the elevator ... no big fanfare, no throwing anything.  The DJ will announce the last song (the bar will close about 15 - 20 min before that) and, after the last twirl, we're departing.  Easy peasy.

    Ribbon wands.  They are long sticks with ribbons attached (you can do your colors) and all your guests can wave them as you leave, it looks super pretty and they take the wands with them so you don't have to worry about cleaning anything up.

    I'm sorry haven't been on in awhile!  Yes the sticks are made from 12 inch long dowels (you can paint them one of your colors if you want- my sister painted hers black) and then use a hot glue gun and glue the ribbons on the end and wrap it around the top so you can't see the glue.  You can use a couple different colors of ribbon or personalized ribbon.  If you google DIY instructions for ribbon wands it will tell you how, but they use eyelet screws etc,  For my sisters wedding we just glued them with a hot glue gun and they turned out great.  I think I will do the same in different colors.  At my sisters wedding all the guests waved the wands again when the bridal party entered the reception, it was really cool.  Hope this helps and they work for you!!!

    I've been planning on using ribbon wands, and tonight while having dinner at a Chinese restaurant with FI, inspiration struck: wooden CHOPSTICKS are even less expensive than dowels, are the right size, come in packages, and can be painted.  Yay!

    Though I haven't tried it yet, I'm thinking I'll just push a coordinating thumbtack into the end to secure the ribbon.  Sore thumbs, yes, but no hot glue burns, either.
