Destination wedding - at home reception

Ok ladies!

I need advise!  We are planning a destination wedding next May and I can't decide where or how to plan our reception for when we return home for those that weren't able to join us at our destination, etc.

Any unique sites for a reception in the Madison/Milwaukee area?

I want the reception to be fairly inexpensive and I wanted it to be outdoors. I initially thought of having it in our backyard, but our yard isn't big enough then we don't want to have to worry about the neighbors complaining about the all night dance party :)

How should we handle the "reception" for the guests that were able to make the trip to our destination?  The resort is an all inclusive, however they want to charge us extra if we want to reserve a conference room with buffet (I don't see the point in paying for extra, but we'll see).  Do we just have a cocktail hour after the ceremony and then have everyone fend for themselves for dinner? I don't know how this should all work...

HELP!!

I know someone who got married in Mexico at an all-inclusive resort and instead of have a separate room they reserved an area for them in one of the buffet restaurants, head table, linens, flowers and they had to pay extra for only the flowers maybe you can check into that?

I am getting married in Vegas with 70 guests and we are having an AHR but in my home town so I don't have any ideas for the MKE, Madison area.  But maybe look into a community center.  We are renting out the one in my home town that's brand new and is located in a beautiful park.

My Fiance and I are also doing a destination wedding this year. We're going to go to Hawaii to get married and them we're going to have our reception at the Dorf Haus in Roxberry. It's a German Reserant that's just outside of Waunakee. They're realitivly cheap compared to other places in the Madison area and their reception hall is really nice and big. They have a pretty outside area if you wanted to take pictures and such. And then we're not doing a dinner, we're doing appitizers only with cake and cookes and then all the traditional dances.

    Hope that helps!!!Laughing
