Venue Help!!!

I originally wanted my wedding in Virginia but my 85 year old grandmother who lives in NYC said that she is unsure if she can make the trip.  So now I am looking to see if I can get a venue space that is inexpensive in the New York City, New Jersey area, like a museum, mansion, park or something different than the usual banquet hall.  Any Ideas???? We were hoping to spend around 6,000 - 7,000 for the venue and food for about 100 people.

    If you only have 100 people, I definitely recomment the Madison Hotel conservatory in Morristown.  That's where I'm getting married and it's such a beautiful room.  The food is great, and people will be able to stay over instead of drive home or to a nearby hotel.  I'm not sure if it's in your budget but I'd definitely check it out!

    If you want unique, check Newark - the Mezzanine and there's a museum in Newark too.

    I second the Newark Museum.  It's near the Prudential Center and it has a security guard by the parking lot.  It's pretty safe I think.

    <div>I second that!</div><div>I am so Jealous.  When i saw that place on "whose wedding is it anyway" I fell in love.  It is so beautiful there and I am positive your wedding will be amazing.  My issue was that I really wanted to get married on the beach and its not exactly close to a beach and we didn't want our guest to have to travel. The conservatory is definitely different and amazingly beautiful.  </div>

    Check out the Queens County Farm Museum.  My fiance and I visited and while it didn't quite work out for what we wanted, it is a really cool and relatively inexpensive venue.  For 100 people, you can rent the barn for I think $500.  You can also choose your caterer, which can help budget wise.  The woman we talked to was also very helpful, and laid back.     I third that! My engagement party was at the Madison Hotel in that conservatory room, and it is beautiful! The food and service were outstanding.

    There is an old movie theater in Jersey City I think that does weddings. They even put your name on the Marqee outside.
