My FI doesn't like wedding cake, so I don't want to spend the $ on it as we are paying for it. Would like to still incooperate cake n2 the wedding. Thought combing it with the centerpieces might work? Thoughts, ideas? Still would prob have a sheet cake or two for guests who still one whole peices of cake.

I'm a cake a holic.  My first thought is that if you are making the cake balls that will be incredibly labor intensive for centerpieces if you have to make a lot.  If you are buying them, it could get pricy.  You could get his favorite dessert in place of a groomscake, serve regular cake and then you don't have to worry about it.

I'm doing this for my kids table! The only thing I'd be worried about is people eating them all to have enough pics taken to see the room as a whole

I think it's a really cute idea.  Labor intensive, yes. Possibly expensive, yes.

I wouldn't worry about the photo aspect. Just make sure your photographer knows you want a picture of that and I am sure they'll make a point of doing it early in the night.
