Venues

I know I've seen about a million posts on here about venues, but I'm trying to get some ideas for the reception. I've gotten some ideas from old posts, but wanted to see what ideas/information you ladies have. We will be having the wedding at our home church (date still tbd), so ceremony space is not necessary.

The Criteria:
*Must be indoors, since wedding will probably be in the hot AZ summer (yeah, I know!)
*Must accomodate about 180 guests
*Must be somewhat kid friendly (we will have 15-20 in attendance)
*Must be within a 20-30 minute drive from Tempe
*I'm looking to keep the costs as low as possible (within reason, especially given size of guest list)

Thanks in advance! Smile

I'm not sure how far of a drive it is, but I would check out Seville Golf and Country Club if it's close enough for you.

They have an amazing ballroom that would easily accomidate your guest list  (says 170-250 depending on seating options)...  their prices are very reasonable, especially for food (basically restaurant prices), very kid friendly.  Their events coordinater is really nice, very easy to work with, and she really has listened to what we want to do, and basically said anything we want to do is what they will do.

You can go to the resaurant there to try the food, it's open to the public... the setting and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, plenty of parking...

If you do a bar, it's based on consumption...  you set a limit if you want, and they will tell you when you're getting close to that limit and you can decide if you want to keep serving or shut the bar down, or go to a cash bar.

It's really been customizable...  and you can bring in outside vendors for everything but food, or use the ones that they work with a lot and can get you better rates for.

If you want to know anything else, let me know!    (Why do I feel like I sound like a commercial?)  LOL

Your criteria for a venue seriously mirrors what mine was!

That said, we decided to book Val Vista Lakes in Gilbert since it is 25% off in the summer, accommodates up to 200, and most importantly for us lets you bring in your own caterers and alcohol, which is saving us a ton of money.

We also looked at Tempe Center for the Arts, Mission Palms, and Inpirador which are all gorgeous but just a bit more expensive. There is also the Phoenix Zoo in the area and down town mesa has a few venues that I have heard great things about; Regency Gardens, Tre Bella, and 12 Main.

Any idea of what price range you are looking for?  May help with narrowing places down...

I'm also a Val Vista Lakes bride...some other places with indoor is Inspirador in Chandler and the new place Noah's opening in Chandler.

I'm getting married at The Waterfront, which has been compared to Val Vista Lakes in terms of pricing. It is close to downtown Tempe, indoors, and very pretty! It's on a lake, but I don't think you would risk any child drownings or anything considering how the patio is laid out and the fence. I reccomend checking it out!

I second Tempe Center for the Arts! It's beautiful! Provided that they refill the lake :)

We are getting married at Fiesta Fountains in Mesa. We are having 225+ people, kids. The church we are getting married at is in Tempe & Fiesta Fountains is a 5 minuter drive from there. Its big and they have packages available where everything is included. We got a really discounted price & we couldnt be happy with the customer service & accomadations they are providing
