Big Wedding Reception

Hi Knotties,

I'm in need of some advice. My fiance and I are not originally from Las Vegas so most of our guest will be flying in for our special day. Our guest list is up to 200 people and I'm looking for an inexpensive Venue for our reception. Also, it needs to be one that allows outside catering. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I doubt you will find a place that can hold 200 people AND allow outside catering on the strip.

I would look at parks. When is your wedding?

I think we are in a similar situation!  We are looking at renting a private property and having our reception there.  We are looking at vrbo.com - I think it's an affordable option for us, so thought I'd share!

I've thought of parks but I'm kind of skeptical. The idea of having my family at a park for my wedding doesn't fit me but its looking like one of the only options I might have :(

I've seen some private properties that we could rent for the night and that's looking good for right now. Please let me know if you find anything else. Thank you for help its much appreciated. :)

Just wondering why it has to allow outside catering? There are some gorgeous golf courses in and around Vegas...

The food is one of the more important things as far as our parents are concerned. My Fiance and I would like to respect their idea and try to find a place that will allow outside catering. Were hoping to find a caterer who cooks island food. If all else fails then well find one that does the catering. I love the golf courses. If we could have our reception there without hurting anyone's feelings I would do it in a heart beat.

Do you mean island food as in Hawaiian? If so maybe the hotels dowtown las vegas? I know they get a lot of Hawaiian visitors, and serve hawaiian food.

Check out this website there are a few banquet halls and the grove that can hold up to 350.

This place can hold up to 200, I think you have to use their catering though.

Skyview Terrace also up to 200

I'll of course always recommend the Revere since that's where we got married.  :)

Check out Cili at Bali Hai golf course.  I think they might be able to fit up to 200 and their food is Balinese, if that passes as "island-inspired"?  I've eaten the food there (went for lunch with FI one day when we were scouting) and it was fabulous.  It's also (relatively) affordable given your other options for something on-strip that holds that many people.

If you have a time share at the wyndam, their reception hall has a max of around 200 (if I remember correctly) and they certainly allow for outside catering ..

If you are looking for Island food as in Hawaiian food, then as mrsfranklintobe mentioned, downtown Las Vegas is certainly the place.  Although they don't allow for outside vendors, Golden Nugget, The California and Main Street Station all offer island menus with items like a whole roast pig, lomi lomi and some nigiri items.

The Golden Nugget will try to sell you on the upstairs conference rooms which are very dated, but ask to see the new ball room off the casino floor by the Rush Towers.

The California conference room is not much to look at but would have the most authentic island food of the three and can seat 200 +

Main Street has a very cozy steak house that they converted into their banquet hall and their island food is also pretty good.

If an outside catering is a must, the wyndamn should be able to accomodate you but you have to pay them to use their tables and chairs.
