hotel guest bags

Hi everyone, we have a lot of out of town guests as well as local guests who will be taking advantage of the shuttle/hotel service we're offering them, therefore, I think it would be a good idea to make up some sort of guest bag for them when they return to their rooms after the wedding.....I was thinking of including the following in the bags:

water bottle(s)
aspirin
some sort of snack (chips, cookies, pretzels, etc)

is anyone else doing this or considering doing this too?  if so, what else should I include in these bags?

Hotel guest bags are pretty normal for weddings- they've been at every wedding I've been to.

In ours we had a bunch of stuff. We tried to relate them to our Fall wedding. We had:

    1. Water bottles
    2. Apple Cidar (mini bottles)
    3. Small thing of cidar donuts (we bought  a ton and divided them up into smaller portions)
    4. Chocolate covered cranberries (again we bought a ton and divided them into smaller portions)
    5. Pretzels/Chips- related snacky foods
    6. Gum
    7. Cranberry/granola mix from the Cape.

We also included info the morning after brunch and directions to the ceremony.

    And I think that's it.

We gave the welcome bags to the hotel to distribute upon check-in. They included:

-a hang tag that said "welcome to Boston" from us - DIY
-two water bottles with custom labels (from Etsy)
-chocolates (Dove, I got them at Target)
-an itinerary for the weekend, a map of the area and ideas for sightseeing. I rolled them up and tied the papers with a shiny ribbon (DIY - I made copies at Kinko's)

We were on a budget because we had several events during the weekend for guests so we kept the goodies in the bag to a minimum. There's no need to go overboard.

I'm also on a tight budget and feel you can spend a little and people would still appreciate it. It's the thought that counts. I also plan to put a few flyers in the bags about  the area.
As well as inviting people to the Post Brunch at the hotel.
    Pretzels
    Choclate
    Candy
    Water

We did 30 gift bags for our out of town guests.  We were on an extremely tight budget, so we ordered bags from the Oriental trading company, and we put in the bags:

Water Bottles (Costco has these for really cheap)
Bags of chips and pretzels (also from Costco)
Fun-sized candy (from you guessed it!  Costco!)
(None of these things were personalized

I also included a map of Boston (which also had a subway map in it - taken from Mass General Hospital - it was so hard to find a good map!), as well as other brochures for the MFA, the Sam Adam's brewery, and the Aquarium.

I also typed up a welcome letter, detailing the weekend events, shuttle times, etc.

In addition, I made up little wallet cards on my computer.  It had my phone #, my husband's #, the # and address of the hotel, the address of the wedding/reception and #s for 2 taxi companies.

    Hope this helps!

I've been to two out of town weddings, one with a gift bag and one without.

I think it is a nice gesture if you can afford it.  Usually just having water and some snacks is great, because then your guests can have something to snack on either when they arrive starving at the hotel or before heading out to your ceremony.

Tylenol or advil can also be nice for the morning after.  Wink

Check out the Dollar Tree for some good deals. I even found reusable beach bags for a dollar each to use instead of paper gift bags.
