I should be ecstatic..my divorce will be final 11/1/11.  Fiance bought my ring two days ago but I haven't told anyone yet. My friends know we are getting married but I'm not wearing my ring till my divorce is final. We are planning a 2013 wedding.  I'm kind of estranged from my family so my girl friends are like sisters to me.  I showed a couple of dresses I have been eyeing to two of my friends. One pretended she didn't get the text the other made catty remarks like these models are skinny It won't look the same on u.  I'm a 12/14 not obese I'm my opinion.  i am thinking about canceling the wedding and eloping.  I can just imagine what they will say when they see my ring next week...i welcome any advise. Forgot to mention i met him 10 years ago and had a couple of dates but were on different pages at the time.  I separated from my ex last August and ran into my fiance 2 months later. Also he's white im black so im not sure if the comments stem from the interracial thing or the speed in how our relationship took off.

    I have family that like to talk trash about whatever decision is made. So when I got engaged we sit down and figured everything out before we told everyone.

    It took the wind out of their sails when they tried to make plans for me and started their comments. i would just say that's a good idea and stopped talking about the wedding. If they ask, I tell them.

    I hate this for you. I know brides are happy and want everyone else to be just as happy, but that rarely happend IMO. That's why we have TK

    Ur right im just so excited I can't help talking about my plans I will have to post here more often..thanks I feel a lot better now.

    Sorry to hear you are having that experience but CONGRATULATIONS and enjoy your engagement and make the plans and have fun! We are planning our wedding which will be about 60 people (mostly family) but some friends. The wedding is not going to be over the top, but a nice ceremony and then a sit down catered meal with a little dancing. It is at a local spot that is like a very small castle, but fun for the size wedding we are having (sorry this is going on so long) My point is that I am now having family say we did not even do that for our kids wedding, or their wedding. Like that is the standard that we are suppose to plan by. It did hurt my feelings, but then I changed my attitude and will not let them get to me. That is what I would have you do. You know what they say about people and opinions don't you?
