Dress size..

I said yes to the dress today!! I am on cloud9 right now! :) however, I am slightly stressed! After I chose my dress, the lady took my measurements and my chest was perfect for a size 8, but my mid-section was exactly between an 8 and 10..so the woman made me decide which size I wanted her to order. I told her to order a 10..but now I am doubting my choice. I have been working out faithfully and eating very healthy and have been losing weight. I am planning to lose another 15 pounds before the big day which is in November..so do you think I should have went with the 8? (my dress is a corset back - incase that effects your opinion) Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Re: Dress size..

  • You did the right thing, you order for the size you are now, not what you hope you'll be in the future.

We all have good intentions as to losing weight before the day, but you never know what will happen in that time. And if you do, thats what alterations are for.

    You'll be fine! And congrats!

  • Yep order now and I say this because out of 10 brides only 2 lose the weight they intend normally...and usually from peer pressure and in an unhealthy way. Dresses can be taken in up to two sizes and let out one.

  • Woohoo! I thought I made the right decision..I just wanted that final reassurance! Haha thank you :)
  • You definitely made the right decision.   If you DO lose weight then your dress can be taken in, or you could use the corset back to tighten it.   If you're on the edge, you should ALWAYS order the higher size.  The last think you want is to pressured so you HAVE to lose the weight to get the dress to fit.

  • I think most people will tell you to choose the size you are now and then if you lose weight it can be taken in. I bought my dress in a smaller size (an 8 and I'm currently a 10), but I'm confident that in the next five months I'll be able to lose the last 15 pounds I'm aiming for. Again, it's most logical to order the size you are now, but I'm also looking at this as a challenge for me, not only to look skinnier for my wedding, but to create healthier habits.
