2 caterers?

I just discovered that Sweet Tomatoes caters! For $10 pp you can get
Caesar Salad Asiago
Chicken Wonton Salad
2 Cold Pasta Salads
Baked Potatoes & Toppings
Choice of hot soup AND hot pasta
Assorted Muffins
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Tea
Lemonade
Plates, Napkins, Utensils, Cups
Deliver and Set Up
Then there is another caterer that offers a package of 4 items for $10 pp and you can even choose carving stations. So I thought with the stuff from Sweet Tomatoes and ordering only meat from the other caterer I would have a pretty good buffet style dinner for my guests.
This is seriously just an idea I came up with when I saw that Sweet Tomatoes does catering, and I don't even have a venue yet so I have no clue if they'll allow me to bring in my own catering. Just wondered what your thoughts are on having more than 1 caterer.

I NEVER would have thought of this!! I knew Sweet Toamtoes caters, but not for one minute did I ever consider this. And I LOVE them. I may be stealing this idea :)

lol, I think the only downturn to Sweet Tomatoes is that there is no meat available. If they offered like one or two choices of meat I would go just them all the way!

Would you mind saying who the other caterer is?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I doubt both caterers will allow you to do this. It is a liability issue, since they don't want to be held responsible in case there is an issue with the other caterer's food, since someone could mistake it for theirs. I would clear it with them in writing that it's ok, because the last thing you want is for them to show up and refuse to unpack the food due to liability.

I wouldn't just spring it on them. The other caterer I'm looking at is Catering and Events.  But like I said, I might even end up going with a reception site that doesn't allow outside catering.

I think having two caterers is a interesting idea, gives more choices for your guests. But I would probably talk it over with the other caterers before making a decision.

I don't think that Sweet Tomatoes would care. I don't think that they actually "cater". I think it is like getting food from Chik-fil-a. They drop it off and set it up, but it is nothing over the top. I still think it is genious. And when there is a will there is a way!

I'm with My_Matt that I believe they won't care, as a 'high class fast food' location they'll likely be dropping off and setting up the food and utensils, then leaving you to serve it and clean it up.

However, I also agree with another poster that you should probably clear it with them and the other location just to be safe. They might not want to risk liability if someone gets food poisoning or an allergic reaction from the other location and it's impossible to sort out which food was to blame.
