Dessy bordeaux vs. African Violet

Hi...I've finally chosen my bridesmaids dresses, but I was looking for something in a deep purple/eggplant color...The dress I picked is offered in a bordeaux and african violet from the Dessy line...is either of these colors close to a deep purple/eggplant? It's in a stretch charmeuse fabric and the dress shop I ordered from didn't have any dresses in that color and fabric. Also....is espresso close to chocolate?

Re: Dessy bordeaux vs. African Violet

  • The African Violet is a much ligher/brighter purple than eggplant.  The Bordeaux is a little more red to it.  My colour is also dark purple (like eggplant) and I would probably go with the bordeaux if I was choosing between those 2 colours.  Hope that helps a little.

  • I was scared of the bordeaux because of the red....Do you think it's closer to a red than a purple?
  • Bordeaux is a type of wine.  Not to mix wine types, but bordeaux could be classified as burgundy color-wise.  I am having a purpley wedding and bordeaux is not purple in my book.  I'd be more likely to pick African violet since violet is an actual purple shade.

  • Alfred angelo has eggplant as one of their colors.
  • The eggplant from Alfred Angelo is exactly the colour I want.  And yes, the bordeaux is more red than purple.  I just suggested the bordeaux vs the african violet because I knew that I didn't want a light purple colour.
