So I've been getting caught up lately in the family drama surrounding our wedding. FMIL complaining about EVERYTHING, FSIL stirring the pot for fun.. etc. etc. ...
Then yesterday I caught a bridal show here in Canada called "wedding SOS" concept: a "fairy godmother" wedding planner comes in and gives a struggling couple 3 wishes to make their wedding dreams come true. Usually when the wedding planner stpes in there is 5-7 days until the wedding and there is No prep work done for the wedding yet, and Usually the couple is this bickering, lazy, spoiled couple who do not deserve the special treatment they are getting, usually makes for a pretty funny show.
But yesterday's show was a serious reality check that I needed. The bride and groom had 7 days to go until their wedding. They had nothing done yet becuase the groom had cancer and was in and out of the hospital for the entire planning process. And they had a 2 year old son to boot. So basically the groom is dying and they want to get married before it's too late. The wedding planner pulls out all the strings and throws them this amazing wedding... the groom gets a 2 hour pass from the hospital to attend his own wedding.. and as the credits roll at the end of the show they say "in memory of (the groom)"
How's that for a reality check? really makes me see what is important... who cares what the FMIL thinks, or if my MOH is being selfish...
All I can say is Thank God for my FI's health and that God willing we will grow old together. I am a lucky, lucky girl!
