tahiti-- bora bora

So i recently fell in love with the idea of going to bora bora for our honeymoon. But it's in august which is peak season, and I have been quoted crazy amounts ( i know it'll be expensive no matter what )

Has anyone been to bora bora, moorea, tahiti for honeymoon? if so, who did u book with, and if you do not mind sharing the price or price range it came out to?

thanks!

Re: tahiti-- bora bora

  • I've got my HM booked for Moorea for 9 nights in April.  We have a bungalow for the first 4 nights, and upgraded to an OWB for the last 5.  The hotel, including breakfast, is around $2500. It's expensive, and not for everyone. Plus flights on top of the hotel.  We have had tahiti on our bucket list for some time, and figured our honeymoon was the only reason we can justify this kind of money for a trip.  I think I'm more excited for the honeymoon than the wedding!

  • We booked Bora Bora, Moorea, and Tikahau for10 days. It is somewhere in the $10-12k range. We are staying at Le Meridian Bora Bora and Hilton Moorea and Pearl Resort Tikahau. This is by far the most expensive vacation we have ever been on, but Im sooo excited.

I have heard that food options there are also ridiculous, so make sure to budge that in too.

</div><div>We stayed at the Hilton Moorea.  If you go out of the hotel, turn right and walk a few minutes up the road, on the left there is the Lilikoi Cafe.   Basically, it's a woman who runs a lunch truck out of her backyard.  We went there a couple times for lunch (paninis were cheap and good!) and had dinner there once (some kind of chicken skewers w/ rice....also very good!).  I think she's only open for dinner on Friday nights.  She accepts USD and has free wifi.  :D  It's a great alternative for lunch (and the high prices) at the hotel.

I loved the Pearl in Tikehau (it's not Tikahau). One of my favorite destinations. It's very quiet and very secluded and a perfect way to remove yourself from the world!

Thanks for the tip! Sounds perfect
  • I talked to a travel agent yesterday about Tahiti for my October honeymoon. She said for a trip of 7-8 nights it would be about $8000. That included airfare from LAX, an OWB for part of the stay, and this was a split stay between Bora Bora and PPT, I believe.
