Dress shoes veil...

As stupid as this is going to sound, i kind of forgot about my wedding attire. I ordered my dress 9 months ago, but it still isnt in. Im worried, and the store i ordered from seems completely out of it. I ordered shoes a few months back and just now tried breaking them in, they are so uncomfortable not sure what to do. I havnt bought a veil or clutch... i'm just behind on everything. I got both moms their dress's the guys their tux, but almost put myself out, and i feel like its last minute. Is it? Does anyone have any tricks for breaking in shoes?

Re: Dress shoes veil...

  • I have just been wearing mine around the house when I can remember. Usually Saturday morning's before we run any errands. I bought a clutch on ebay for $12.00 and I love it for the amount of time I'll need it for.
Remember to take care of yourself! I would def. get on the bridal salon and figure out when you can see your dress. Like in the next week, it would be my number one priority.
What does your paperwork state your expected in hands date would be?

  • I use this product with heels: http://www.drugstore.com/band-aid-active-friction-block-stick/qxp163404.
And try breaking them in with socks?
  • I just ordered the shoe genie for my shoes thru ebay for like 13 bucks. It's supposed to break them in. I also think you need to get to the bridal salon as soon as possible. They should have veils and clutches there.

  • like PP said wear your shoes a little bit each day to break them in. (like while you cook dinner, or get ready in the morning).  As far as the accessories -- ask to see if any friends or family have a clutch?  I did that and it's my something borrowed =) or check department stores.  it doesnt have to match your dress exactly -- it could just coordinate with your other colors too

Definitely start asking the bridal salon what the deal is with your dress. 6-9 months is fairly normal, but you do wanna keep on top of it!  As for veils - check bridal shops or ebay/etsy.  I got mine at my bridal salon on sale for under $50

As far as last minute -- definitely make a yay or nay decision on the shoes soon so you have time to get different ones if  needed.  the veil and clutch shouldn't take long at all.

    Thanks ladies!
Im having my mom call the salon.I've called 3 or 4 times already, and im afraid ill get shiity with them,so i asked my mom for help.

When  i purchased the dress they said it would be in June 24-June 26th.

On lunch i went to the store and got gel inserts and tape, its helping alittle but i'll try the socks!!

I just saw a veil and garter at davids for both under 90. So that works! =)

Has any one ever gone with out a clutch??
Im not sure what i'll even need to put in there?

Update: Mom just called back and said they are hoping it is in by friday.
Im hoping too, i still need to alter it.
  • Yes, the socks definitely works...that's what Im doing.  When the dress does come in (& I'm praying for you that it comes in by Friday) you may want to ask the salon for compensation or discount on alterations since they did not meet their deadline.  Just a thought.

  • I'm glad it sounds like your dress will be in soon. I would schedule your fittings as soon as it comes in. To answer your other question, I'm not having a clutch. I don't really know what I would put in it, so why spend the money.
  • Just something I heard etiquette wise a while back is that the only thing I bride should carry on her wedding day is her bouquet haha anywho, I am not getting a clutch! : I would put a camera in it and end up having it in my hand all evening... I think that's a nono.. :

I thought the same thing then I realized that I will have to touch up my make up at some point in the evening even if it's just my lipstick after I eat.  I found one on the clearance rack at Pat Catan's or Michael's for $3.00.
