Makeup Timing for the day of

When are you all getting your makeup done the day of the wedding? I have a 3 pm start time and the photographer will be there at 1 pm but my makeup artist wants to come at 8 to do makeup for 4 people (including me) and I'm worried that by the time the ceremony starts (much less we get to the reception) my makeup won't look nearly as nice as it should. But part of me also thinks she's the professional and knows what she's talking about, so I wanted to see what some other people are doing.

  • Our ceremony is at 4:30pm and I'm doing my own make up just after I get my hair done at 1:00pm.
  • My ceremony is at 3 pm as well, and the hair stylist is doing my hair at 1130, and then ill have my make up done around 1230-1ish. You want your make up to last as long as possible, so i think doing shortly before your pictures start is a good idea, but thats just me!

First look is at 5pm, I want to be getting into my dress at 4pm/doing pictures with my parents, etc. My makeup will be done by 3:45, I am doing it at the last possible second to make sure it looks the best.

  • My ceremony is at 2:00 pm, and I'm getting makeup done at 9:00 am, with hair following that. We leave for the ceremony/early pictures at 12, so it's not that much time to get everything done.
  • we need to be at our venue (30 min away) by 4:30 to be dressed and ready for pictures at 5. We will be starting hair and make-up at 11 am.
  • Our ceremony is at 5:00, first look at 2:45. Our makeup artist is doing 4 people and arriving at 9:00.

  • We're leaving for the ceremony around 11:10-11:15 and the MUA is scheduled to be there from 9-11. I don't think it will take that long because she's only doing make up for 3, max 4 people.

2-3 hours before the ceremony seems to be the norm based on PPs as well. HTH!

<div>We have the same start time and everything.  But It'sonly me and my sister getting hair and make up.  But what if you asked to go last?  That way you would be the freshest?  We are starting first looks at 1 so I'm planning 9 am sister hair, 10 am my hair/ sister make up, 11am my make up.  That leaves us and hour to eat a bit and make it over to the venue.</div>

  • The bride can take up to an hour.  BM & MOB, etc can be as fast as 30 mins & up to sometimes take as long as 45 mins usually.  The bride should be one of the very last to get her make up done so they are fresh.  But of course if you are going to the salon to have all this done & getting ready at your parent's house (like me), you will need to be moved up a little bit since the photographer will want more pictures of you than your BMaids.  Your mother needs to get done around the same time as you so she is there for those important getting ready shots along with your MOH.
We have 8 possibly 9 getting their hair done & 6 possibly 7 getting make up done.  3 hairdressers but only 1 make up artist...  We plan on starting at the salon around 7:30, maybe even earlier, still figuring that out.  I need to be back at my parent's house with my mom & MOH by 11:30-11:45 to meet the photo/video.  My BM need to be back at the house by 12:30.
Church is 5 mins from my parent's house & the ceremony starts at 2pm.
  • Our wedding starts at 4pm I have an appointment for 5 with the BMs and MOH the photographer will meet us there for getting ready pics around 1pm. I am planning on keeping a makeup kit near me at all times before the wedding to do whatever touch ups I feel necessary.

Like PPs mentioned, ask if you can go last for makeup.  Also, are you getting regular or airbrush makeup?  Airbrush will last all day.... (regular will too, but you'll have to be prepared for touch ups).
