So....(NWR)

I have decided to not tell many people (but was excited to share with you all!)  because I don't want to hear anything negative, but I've decided to go back to school. Last year around this time, I didn't think anyone could pay me to even joke about this, but I guess I was fooled.

I finished my BA back in 2008 and went straight to grad school and finished that last May. I have decided to go back for Nursing and just submitted my FAFSA a few hours ago, and my application for the local community college shortly after that. I am so nervous (mostly at the idea of getting rejected) and I have no idea why. FI keeps laughing telling me that community colleges accept everyone. I will be jumping right in (hopefully, especially since a lot of classes are closed already) to get all of the pre-reqs done to apply for Accelarted BSN programs for next fall!

Yay!!! Good luck. I was one semester away from my RN and quit. I loved it and I'm sure you will too. I wish I could give you my credits and hundreds of clinical hours ; )

  • Good for going back to school takes a lot to do that big step for you Congrats
  • Good for you!!  I hope you enjoy your program and classes

  • Congrats! Although I am not a nurse, I do work with them everyday since I am a respiratory therapist. They do amazing things! I am still thinking about going back to school for nursing since I've done the same prerequisites for respiratory, but I am really happy with where I am right now. Your FI is right about everyone getting accepted into a community college, but it is also true that programs like nursing, respiratory therapy, and dental hygiene are always impacted and oftentimes require a separate application to be submitted. Good luck with everything!

  • Congrats!! Amazing news! I am in the same boat as you. I graduated in 06 with my BA and am looking at going back to school for nursing. I am looking for a volunteer opp now and starting to get things together for the pre-reqs I have to take. Such an exciting (but nervewracking) time!

  • Thanks ladies! You are all so encouraging and I hope you know it is appreciated!

Lora, good luck to you also!

I made my schedule for the summer last night, and it is kind of overwhelming: 4 science courses with labs between the two 6-week sessions, but I just found out one of the programs has fewer pre-reqs for the Accelerated BSN program and they actually accept 3 classes per year, so if I can finish everything this summer I can apply for the January class instead of waiting for next summer or fall for most of the other schools!!
