Not Engaged Yet

Found a use for my promise ring!

So, I just wanted to say "neener neener neener!" to all you ladies who talk trash about promise rings (yes, I know, I'm an 'exception').

I started painting class today and I didn't want to wear my big honkin' engagement ring and end up getting paint in between the stones or something. So, I put on my promise ring instead. PERFECT!

It's just a tiny solitaire, and I rarely wear it anymore so a little paint wouldn't matter.

Plus, it's so cute with my wedding band.

So, neener neener neener! Not so cheesy after all. Wink

so this might sound like a dumb question but when is it considered a promise ring? my boyfriend bought me a ring and he asked me if i would eventually marry him and i said yes, but i was just curious because i'm new to all the rings and what they mean and how you can tell...my mom said it's more of a promise ring but he's telling people we are engaged. We do plan on getting married when i graduate from college so would that mean it's an engagement ring?

When DH gave me a promise ring (waaaaaaaay back in the day) he specifically told me it was a promise ring, and that he would propose to me with an engagement ring later. (cheesy, yes. But I love him anyway)

If you don't know whether you're engaged, I think you should probably talk to the guy who gave you the ring.

Aww, Jeana.  That is a great use for it.  I can think of a future use as well.  If you can get it resized, you can make it a size larger when you are pregnant and dealing with swollen fingers.
  • edited December 2011
Mutley, that's a really good idea. My engagement ring is slightly bigger, so I'm not sure I'll need to stop wearing it (depending, you know) but I probably will need to resize my wedding band. It's pretty snug. Not tight, but snug. At least it's a plain gold band, so easy maintenance.

I got my rings a little bit bigger as well.  I am a 6.5 and got a 7.  Yeah, no dice right now.  Between the summer heat and pregnancy swelling, I wore them for the last time on Sunday.

DH ordered me a temporary band for now.  If I like it, he is getting me a real one for the next pregnancy.  I think that using your promise ring would be more sentimental.  Heck, I might even be a bit jealous-e right now.  LOL.

It would be pretty easy to size the promise ring. It's just a little diamond on a plain gold band.

    Here, I snapped a pic:

I don't think you guys have ever seen it. AND, that's my wedding band with it. <3

    Cool

    WEDDING BAND!!!!!

And yes, I am already planning what you should do with your rings when you are pregnant.  Because well, let's face it...  I cannot wait for you and Mr. Jeana to start your little person family.

LOL, it doesn't surprise me that you're excited. I would love to be preggers with you! But you might be on baby #2 or #3 by the time we get there.

    WEDDING BAND!

Official proof you are a Mrs.

That is, if seeing your new last name doesn't count. Laughing

Your rings look nice together.  I was never part of the promise rings are evil bandwagon.  Sometimes, it just what a guy wants to get a girl.

I got TWO promise rings (one was a blue topaz, the other a honkin' white sapphire). And I eventually stopped wearing both. I hope this will not be the case with my future e-ring.

    Cute idea btw, JeanaLaughing

My promise ring doesn't look anything like an engagement ring.  But I do love it. BF and I decided that I'll just switch it to my left hand till (if we have one) our daughter is old enough to wear jewelry.  We're big into passing stuff down.

Thanks! My engagement ring kinda overwhelms my wedding band, but I didn't want a thick band. Poor wedding band, always getting upstaged.
