I Do Redo - What did you find??

I went to the sale today & got some great things!  We're doing a fall wedding so I got some fake leaves that we'll be using in our centerpieces.  Only $4 for 4 bags, 200 leaves in each bag...Such a great deal!  Also, got a cute iron basket, that has leaves on it.. Not exactly sure what we'll be using it for, but for $3, it was worth getting.  And I'm really excited about a tall glass vase that we're going to put phesant feathers, leaves, & cattails in.  We'll be putting that at the guest book table.  It was only $12!!  It's exactly like a centerpiece we saw at my dress shop, so I'm SUPER excited about it!  All in all I spent just over $20 & got some great stuff!  Glad I was able to make it down, although I don't think I saw any of you ladies there!

What did you ladies find??

Glad to hear you got such great stuff!  I was there right at the beginning of the sale, but I think it was a little too early in my planning. I just have no idea what I want to do for centerpieces, etc.  It's a shame because there was so much glassware there.

I got there pretty early too, got some great centerpiece candleholders! I'm very happy because now I have a way to design the rest of the table now that I have a huge chunk of the centerpieces figured out. I also got two huge deep red wine glasses that are meant to hold candles I think? or maybe flowers, lol. Sometimes its hard to tell! Either way, I'm going to use them for the head table. There were some really great bargains, I'm happy that I went.

Wow it was a zoo and a little overwhelming at first, glad my mom was there to help me carry stuff!  For $35 I bought 36 votive holders (will match the 100+ I recently bought off Craigslist) and 12 7" vases for our BP's bouquets on the head table and for 1/4 of our guest table arrangements.  My sister-in-law is a florist and she said if I could find some of the vases for less than $4 a piece, it would be cheaper than renting them...they were $2 a piece!  I was also happy to get coupons for Anchor Paper and Mary Kay's Bridal (they had some really cute hair pieces, can't wait to go to the store and check them out!) Met with some other vendors briefly for some other ideas and was happy to get copies of the bidal magazines for free too!
After that my mom and I went to MOA to do some Christmas shopping and we found and purchased my wedding shoes.  I love them and they are actually comfortable!  I am happy I decided to say no to the 5" heels I've been eyeing online - these will be less drastic to my dress after I switch to slipper flats at the reception if needed.  I am excited to look for some cute shoe clips to add! (Pic below) Stopped in Ikea to look at candles, bought a pack of their floating candles to test out, see if they burn long enough.
Fun day and feel like I accomplished quite a bit for a Sunday :)

Wow. I am jealous that others found things at this sale. I was super disappointed.
I got there shortly after 12... Foung nothin. But did get some great coupons for Anchor Paper.
I think I'm starting my paper search this week!

I found 30 ceramic candle holders with flower cut-outs for $40 that will match our "Vintage Garden Party" theme perfectly and three stanless steel containers with white wrought iron flowers around them for our dessert buffet!  We got there a little after 12:00 but still found exactly what we wanted!

I totally missed the sale :(  We had a birthday party and a housewarming party to hit yesterday, and by the time we finished up, there was about 45 minutes left of the sale, and we were coming from Prior Lake.  Oh well, I probably would've just done a lot of impulse buying anyway.....

P.s. Hilary, your proposal story page on your bio is awesome!!!  I love that you both put your versions up, and that you have the piece of paper you wrote the date down on... so cute!!!

debbieupper - I saw your photo wall there too!!  Did that sell?

It sounds like some of us were able to find some good deals!  Bummer to those of you that didn't!  It was REALLY busy in there, & pretty overwhelming!  I'm glad I had my sister in-law aka MOH, with me to keep me focused!  I think I'll have to try & sell some of our stuff next year after my wedding! = )
  • edited December 2011
I was there from 12:30-1:30 and got a bunch of stuff.  I got 21 rectangular glass cube vases (still need 7 more) for $2 apiece.  I went into Michael's and Joann later on and found that they retail for $10!  I also got some packets of IKEA plain wood frames at 5/$2 to mosaic for our table numbers, and a turquoise metal vase/flower holder thingy.  Not sure where I'll use it, but it matches our colors and I like it, so I'll figure something out.

I also found a present for my mom, the Mrs. Santabear dressed up like a bride from the Dayton's 2000 set.  Mom has every single other Santabear ever issued except that one.  I only bought the bride one, since Mom already has the groom.  They sold out in probably an hour at the stores that year, so I was shocked that someone wanted to get rid of theirs, and for such a low price since they retailed for $50 apiece.  If it came from anyone on the boards, THANK YOU and I'm sorry I broke up the set.  I felt bad, so I paid $10 extra to the consigner for their trouble.

I didn't notice anyone with a ribbon around their wrist, so maybe I got there earlier than most, and it was pretty packed, and I was carrying heavy stuff, so my mind was elsewhere.  All in all, it was a pretty good trip.  I'll probably sign up to sell once the wedding's over if I've got anything left.  I'm hoping our guests will take the glassware with them, but if not, then I'll consign them.

I'm so bummed that I missed it this weekend! Do they do the sale more than once a year? I'm too lazy to go back onto the website.

Also, **debbie** I just picked up the ring bearers basket from your parents house last night- your parents are adorable and so very courteous! I had originally planned to go out there and get it Saturday, but with the snow I didn't want to venture out. Please tell them thank you again and a big thanks to you as well! I love it and can't wait!!

Ditto this! I did venture out on Saturday to get the votive holders and your parents were so cute and sweet! We talked about your wedding and cake tastings (since I was on the way to Keys :-) ) and they tried to sell me your photo wall so they didn't have to drag it to the sale Sunday (which I totally would have been swayed into doing if I had ANYWHERE in my venue to put it!)
    Thanks again!
