boutonnieres without a jacket?

We are having a very small, casual wedding on the beach. My soon to be hubby and his BM (the 2 of them make up the groomsmen side) are not wearing jackets. I think boutonnieres are not meant to be worn except on the lapel of a jacket. Any input?

I've seen pictures of bouts on shirts/vests with no jacket. It really just depends on what look you're going for.

I've seen bouts worn without jackets. It's no biggee.

I think they're fine without a jacket.

Another idea: We went to a beach themed wedding where they guys didn't wear jackets. They wore starfish pins instead.

I think it is just fine without a jacket. You could do a more casual bout with just greenery or something.

You could do bouts without the jackets, or fun ties (Spongebob or whatever your FI likes, just a thought) or the starfish pins is a good idea. With it being just the 2 of them, you can have whatever you like!

it think its ok without a jacket.. its all up to you its your wedding if you like it then go with it.

How beachy is it? Would leis be appropriate? I think the heaviness of bouts on shirts might ruin the shirts.
