Florist Help!!! Robertsons vs. Beautiful Blooms vs Petals Lane

Hi, Anyone familiar with the above florists? Any feedback?

Re: Florist Help!!! Robertsons vs. Beautiful Blooms vs Petals Lane

  • We are using Petals Lane and they are wonderful!  Brittany is a pleasure to work with, quickly responds to e-mails, and has been up to the challenge with any idea I've brought to her.  She's also reasonably priced (we priced Beautiful Blooms and they were kind of expensive).  Hope this helps :)
  • thanks, I am under a pretty tight budget for flowers. What is reasonable? Like about 2 k?
  • Beautiful Blooms does a lovely job, but is ridiculously overpriced. For example, the florist we chose, who does just as beautiful a job, is charging us HALF of what Beautiful Blooms quoted us. Also, I found the lady who owns BB to be rather inconsiderate, especially of our budget! We gave her a budget of around $2500 for ALL of our decor, and she sent us a proposal for $3800, not even including everything we wanted. Then she claimed we had never told her our budget, even though talking about it took up the first 10 minutes of our consultation.

Give some consideration to Moda Botanica as one more option, whom we are using happily.
    Best of Luck!!!
  • Robertsons and Beautiful Blooms were both out of my price range and I thought I had a decent flower budget..  They can both be kind of expensive.  Petals Lane does do beatuiful work but my florist's estimate was even more reasonable than Brittany's was.  And since you're on a tight flower budget I highly recommend you contact Whimsical Wecomes.  Leslie really listened to what I wanted, had some great ideas, and will work with any budget.  Check out her blog and website. www.whimsicalwelcomes.com
  • All 3 are high end florists.

  • I had a consult with BB, and I wasn't impressed. First, they didn't return my several calls to schedule the appointment. We finally mentioned something to our coordinator at Cescaphe (as BB is their in-house florist), and only then did BB call me back. At the consult, the woman we met with just kind of smiled and nodded and showed us tiny pictures of flowers that she thought would be good for us. It was so difficult to visualize anything. It took about a week to get their proposal. After that I made an appointment with Carl Alan, and realized how inferior my experience at BB was compared to CA. Carl Alan is definitely pricey, but I feel like I am in excellent, competent hands. Also, I recently contacted BB by email to get a price quote on draping in my venue. They responded immediately and told me that they would gather the information and get back to me the next day. Four days later, after not hearing from them, I emailed them again, and the next day I received their quote. Long story short, BB is pricey and not as responsive as I would have expected.
  • I used to use Robertsons for every family event, then they sent us an arrangement filled with bugs on Passover. I stopped using them very fast. BB was too snooty for my taste. I used Loretta at Amaranth and I was beyond impressed and she actually cost half my original flower budget.
  • You could also check Penny's Flowers in Glenside.  They are pretty reasonable.
  • I use Beautiful Blooms for corporate events and everyone always comments on how beautiful the flowers are, they also last for the duration of our event plus a few days (a full week+).  They are pricey but if you can afford it, I would recommend them.  As far as responsiveness, I have never had a problem.  Maybe just complain about it to them and your venue...  it might have been a busy week or something. (No excuse but benefit of the doubt)
