2nd Dress?

Did anybody get a second dress to change into? I am considering buying a short dress, such as the one below, to change into either before the cake cutting or before our afterparty....Any thoughts??

i wouldnt, you spend so much on your dress and you only get to wear it once why make it even less time!! maybe i would wear that for an after party because it is really pretty but not as good as your actual dress

    I also wouldn't do a second dress.

I think the dress is really pretty.  But if you are as anal as I am about people seeing you in dresses more than maybe twice, you may not be able to give this $400 dress more than two or three wears.  I was thinking about possibly changing into a track suit at the after party.  Something that has Mrs. Hubby's Last Name written on the back to be more comfy.  But if I spend more than 5k on a wedding dress, I plan on wearing it for the wedding, the reception, the after party, to bed and breakfast the next morning.  Tongue out

I loved wearing my dress and couldn't imagine taking it off I hated to take it off when it was time to go to bed.

That is a really pretty dress though. However as PP said you won't get too much use out of it because you can't wear it to any other weddings cause its white and really how many formal events do you have each year? If you have a lot then maybe.

But really I loved being in my dress and everyone wanted a pic of me in my dress or wated a pic w/ the bride. I couldn't even bring myself to take off my veil till we got to the hotel!

First, that is a very cute dress.  Second, I wore three dresses on my wedding day and do not regret it at all.  I wore a short dress for our beach ceremony (pic in my avatar) then a gown to our reception and then a white cocktail dress to our after party.  It only takes a few moments to change and as long as you have a place to change its really not a big deal.  I understand a lot of people want to wear "The Dress" the whole night and thats cool too.  But I was really happy to get out of my gown by the end of the night and get into something a little more comfortable.

I wore my dress all night. And when I bought my wedding gown, I made sure to only get something that I think I'd be comfortable in for the whole night (so nothing too heavy or tight). Plus I wouldn't have wanted to bother with leaving the party, taking off my dress and putting on a whole new one - waste of time IMO.

I'm not a fan of changing into a new outfit, unless it's a cultural costume or an heirloom dress (like a mother/grandmother's wedding gown).

I would wear that as a guest to your wedding, be the bride and enjoy your gown, you will never wear it again! This type of dress is for any special occasion, stand out!

Plus, you wont have the time nor will you want to leave YOUR party! I didnt even want to miss a minute! And time flies let me tell you!

It's a really cute dress.  I would only wear that at the hotel to the after party if you are having one.  At that point is it really worth it to spend $400 on a dress to wear for an hour before your pass out.

I agree, unless it's cultural, I don't understand the point.

DW dress was 6K, you can bet your A$$ she was wearing it every minute of the event that day!

I spent so much damn money on that thing I'm sleeping in it.  And maybe it'll even make an appearance at the brunch in the morning :p

I wore my dress all night at the reception but by the time we got off the bus at the hotel I was dying to get out of it.  It was hot and a little heavy, and I was just DONE.  I bought a cute short dress at Loehmann's for like $20 on clearance in case I wanted to change and I was so thankful I had that to change in to for the afterparty. Plus, our afterparty was in a crowded hotel bar and, in retrospect, I would not have been able to fit through all the people in the big gown (at the very least, I would have felt uncomfortable and risked getting some drinks spilled on me).  That said, I almost knocked over my chair when I went to sit at the sweetheart table, so not everyone's dress is going to be as big as mine was, haha!

I am buying 2 dresses.  I will wear my gown most of the night but I am going to change toward the end of the evening.  I am planning to dance and dance and dance some more... I cant imagine being in a gown all night.  That is just not my style.  My short dress is cute and looks like a minnie wedding dress.
