Good venues for a small wedding in VA Beach area?

Hi there!

I recently moved to Virginia and live outside of the Richmond area. I am planning on having a small, more intimate wedding in the Virginia Beach area. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places, preferably on or close to the water, even on the beach, that was good for a smaller wedding and not too rough on the budget?? I'm not too familiar and am feeling a little lost.

    eryn, I'm having my wedding in Virginia Beach.  What are you looking for?  A church?  An all-in-one type venue?  What do you consider small?  i'm inviting 110 which I thought was large, but many tell me that's small these days.

    Mine is VERY small, probably 30 or so at most! Our families are all coming from out of town so it's going to be a very intimate wedding. I'm thinking at this point I'll have it on the beach, and perhaps book a private room at a nice restaurant or something for the ceremony. I was looking for something other than a church, but am open-minded!

    The Lesner Inn has a beautiful downstairs deck that would be perfect- it holds up to about 75 comfortably, but if you want dancing and such, it could be perfect!

    There's a small church in the Sandbridge area of Virginia Beach, but it's not right on the beach.  Not sure what it costs, but I'm getting married there.  I'm a member, so they're not charging me.  There are also some beach event houses down there that you could rent.  One of them might put you on the beach, you could call and ask.  I can get you numbers.  Also, the Sheraton on the oceanfront in the resort area has an AMAZING room with windows overlooking the beach.  It is semi-enclosed, but would make a great ceremony location.

    I think Waterman's upstairs room (the Attic) would be beautiful for a small wedding like that.  We saw it setup for a wedding a few months ago and it was gorgeous- all of the windows look out on the waterfront and it's only $475 to rent the room (you need to use their food of course).  We're having our rehearsal dinner there for ~50 people.  With 30 you'd have more than enough room for dancing too.

    Check it out on facebook- they have pics of the Attic under photos and the album is "Waterman's photos" (the last album).  Make sure you're looking at Waterman's Surfside Grille - there are a few different Waterman's on there.

    Courtney was a nice person once we finally got to meet her.  She was a little slow on responding to emails for my taste and impossible to reach by phone.

    Sorry to hear that!  We actually never tried to reach her by phone.  She sent us all the info we needed on the menu within 15 minutes of leaving the restaurant when we first saw it.  I sent her an email about visiting with my parents and she replied a day later.  The last time I had a question she responded by email within 5 minutes.  I guess she may be hit and miss from the sound of it.

    well im going to share my wedding venue with u. its the new renovated holiday inn at the beach. they have a room where you can split apart to make a smaller room and just open it all up. the whole room has big windows and it looks like ur about to walk out on the water. their pricing is great for being around here. its 5,000 min. but that can include food, the room, tables, and drinks  and a free honeymoon night for you and your love. its amazing if your interested call

    Mahi Mah's and Watermans are two restaurants at the Oceanfront that I've heard recommended, but our group was too large for either of them.

    Awesome!! Thank you all so much for your recommendations. I think I am going to get married on the beach, and am looking at oceanfront hotels/restaurants for a small reception dinner!

    watermans would be a great choice as well as Lesner Inn. Rudee's is on the marina and may be able to section off back room for a dinner party as well. Bubba's is casual but you can rent out the upstairs for a private party and sit out side and your on the water as as well. Don't know how formal/informal your looking for?
