Reception venue in Denton area

Hi everyone!  We are getting married in July but having our Reception in August.  I am trying to find a venue to have the reception.  I'm looking for a place that allows me to bring food in or one that has just the basics like cheeses, fruits, and veggies.  As you can probably figure...we are going cheap! LOL  My finance' and I are paying for everything ourselves so the cheaper the better.  We are getting married with both our girls (1 mine and 1 his) and our best friends in attentance only in San Antonio but have decided to have a party for everyone else. :)  Thanks in advance for any help!!! :)

I think almoyo's was the Denton Visual Arts Center? Plus there's another closer to TWU, I think it's called the Women's House? In Corinth there's Grand Traditions, it's one of those places where they do everything, but they have smaller packages. A friend of mine had her reception in a back room at Dan's Silver Leaf, and they were on a really tight budget. And TWU and UNT both have various meeting/event spaces that can be rented out.

Thanks so much everyone!  I was just looking a the Celebrations website last evening.  Think we are going to check them out.  And didn't even think of the colleges...duh! :)

The Wildwood Inn would allow you to do the cheaper option.

I got married there in Sept. of 08.  I had a wonderful experience with them.

My sister had her reception at the Senior Center 11 years ago.  It was a nice spot for a reception.

I'm a TWU alumni and you should look into the Little Chapel in the Woods, its so cute and the garden area around is beautiful.

    Hey!

My reception was at the Center for the Visual Arts, and it's a relatively inexpensive DIY venue. I want to say the rental fee was around $1300, which included 8 hours of use, a clean-up crew, a security guard, a building attendant, full use of their kitchen area, and tables and chairs for up to 225-ish. You can bring in your own food and alcohol (beer and wine only). I liked it because it's a large, modern-looking open space that you can bring your own personality to.

I checked out the Woman's Club, and it was too "grandma's stuffy parlor" for me with big floral drapes, but they are less expensive.

The Downtowner is an ex-skating rink, and I didn't like the low ceiling, and the fact that it still looks like a skating rink. :)

If I hadn't wanted to use my own caterer, I totally would have used the Wildwood Inn.
