Any physical therapists or massage therapists in the house??

A little back story, ever since I was pregnant and after having my daughter, every now and then my sciatic nerve gets pinched or worked up, I can usually feel when it starts to happen the night before and then the next day(like today) I have a sharp pain going from my a$$ all the way down to my toes.

Are they any remedies like stretching or massages that I or my fi could help me with to stop it from freaking out??

TIA

  • I don't have kids and I'm not a physical therapist/massage therapist... but as an artist and someone who stands/walks a lot at work, my sciatic nerve flares up occassionally.  I was told to sit on a tennis ball.  It worked.  Hope that helps.

[QUOTE]No one in their right mind will give you advice of this nature on a wedding forum, without ever seeing you. You need to make an appointment with either a PT or an MT and ask them. If it really is sciatica there are probably stretches and exercises you can do at home but you need to see a professional.

obviously going to a doctor/chiropractor/pt/etc is OP's best bet, but home remedies can be helpful in the meantime...

  • Yes linger, I shouldn't have pinpointed the PT or a MT, my bad. Just looking for something, I have been to a MT and she gave me options for another nerve problem but didn't really focus on my sciatic. I will look into going back and seeing if they can help.

    Thanks for the input.

  • I'm a massage therapist and in school for my doctorate in physical therapy, however, Linger is right. It would be a TERRIBLE idea for me to tell you how to treat it because if you were an evil person (I assume you're not, but you never know) you could sue me and take all of the stuff I don't have. lol

Definitely see a massage therapist, on a regular basis for a while if you can. If you're looking for at home stuff, I'd said ask Dr. Google. Some stretches are pretty basic and easy to find just by searching. And it won't get anyone in trouble. =)
