Re: DId i get the right dress??

  • Oh wow, I think it's beautiful.

If it's any consolation, I would from time to time have second thoughts about my dress--until I put it on again and then I loved it and knew it was the right one.
  • I think it's totally normal to have second thoughts about the dress. I freaked out over my dress and thought maybe I made a mistake. I called the bridal shop I bought it from and they were very understanding (the lady said it happens all the time to brides) the made an appointment for me that same week so I could go back and try it on. Once I had it on I knew it was the one and the frwak out was over.

Call your bridal shop and see if you can go back and put it on again. Once you see yourself in it again you'll love it all over again. Good Luck!!
  • thanks ladies,..i was there 3 days ago and tried it on,.i loved it in the store but later saw a picture of me with it on and dont know if its "me" if you know what i mean?
  • I think that dress is beautiful! I love my dress in the pic, but not on me, however it hasn't been fitted to me yet. How far are you in your fittings? You might not feel its you if it hasn't been fitted to your body yet.

When I see pics of me in my dress, I am very underwhelmed.  It just doesn't photograph that great at all.  But I love it in person and it feels like me when I'm wearing it.

Also, remember once your dress is altered, that can make a big difference also.
  • I am still the same way, I bought by dress super early like 10 months out because my mom was in town and I wanted her to be there. I tried on only 5 dresses having picked the 2nd dress I tried on but after I left I wasnt sure if that was "the one" my sister took pictures so she sent them to me to look at. I felt better, but every time my sister is in town I make her help me try on my dress so I know I picked the right one. Lets just say I try it on at least once a month :) I know the others made me feel old, to big, or something I didnt like but I know that I picked this specific dress because it made me feel right/beautiful and....everyone cried when I put it on :)
  • Well, I think it is normal to have some second thoughts.  I think the key is to try not to look at too many other dresses.  (This can be hard if you have substiptions to any bridal magazines).   The dress is important, but not as important as you might think.  I realize that when I look at my wedding photos and video, I look at the overall picture and my face a lot. So think about the big picture.  Good luck, I'm sure you'll look beautiful!
  • I think it's really normal to question your choice.... seems like a lot of brides do. I will say though that your choice is beautiful!!! I love it. I was having doubts with my dress so I tried it on again and felt a million times better... I loved it again. I would suggest that you do that too; it might help.
  • Thank you so much ladies!!! i feel a little better..its always better to hear it from another bride then family or friends..!!..
  • I'm not a huge fan of Maggie sottero, but that's the one dress I LOVE! You will look beautiful in it!

  • I think it's pretty normal to feel like that.  I felt like that, and was really nervous about trying my dress on for my first fitting, but when I put it back on, I remembered why I loved it so much(that sounds cliche, but it's the truth).  I look at the pictures from the fitting frequently, and the more I look at the dress on me, the more I look past my initial concerns (does it make me look fat/pale/uggo, etc) and realized that I really do love my dress.  I think you'll be just fine.  And your dress is gorge.  I love Maggie dresses.

I felt that way, too. I had wanted to have a custom dress made, but ended up purchasing a Soterro and Midgley gown. I felt sort of pressured into it because it was such a good deal. Sometimes I still wonder about "what if", but my dress was gorgeous and I had it altered to look how I wanted. I think the important thing to do is to try your best to love it-- remind yourself why you liked it and stop looking at other dresses! That is probably the worst thing a person could do. I also think that there is a myth about "The Dress". I don't believe that there is one soul mate dress out there for everyone and we shouldn't treat dresses like relationships. In the end you will still look stunning, have lovely photos, and will be married, which is what matters most!

  • Hi! With all the choices out there and the bridezilla syndrome most of us suffer, it's normal that we have second thoughts about the dress. I had a few about mine since it isn't the traditional strapless ballgown (it's the Galante by Pronovias). But after a while everything seemed to reassure me that it was THE ONE. I'm having a Spanish themed wedding and my dress has appeared on several Spanish inspired magazine spreads. I LOVE IT! Your dress is breathtaking! I love the flowers on the strap. It's so different from the cookie-cutter dresses out there. And the silhouette is super flattering. I don't have any doubts that you'll look amazing on your wedding day!
  • Thanks Boricua, that really helps! i think that the fact that it's not the "cookie cutter"  dress is what makes me a little nervous..thats for the support, much appreciated : ))

  • I ordered this dress as well and started having second thoughts. When I first tried it on again I freaked out and did not feel like it looked good on me. Then after we pulled it to be fitted around my torso and as tight as it will be after alterations, it was a whole differnt story. I am still in love. I honestly think it is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. Everyone I have shown is obsessed with it :)  I think the key is to have it fit you correctly and its a perfect dress!!
