pearl's place really that bad for alterations?

I'm going next Friday, and super scared from some stories I've heard. Would it be worth it to just pay someone else? My dress is like 10 lbs away from being super comfortable and the wedding is in two months...

They are not really that bad, just don't go on Saturday.  Saturdays are a zoo at Pearl's Place.

My bm dresses are from there, and my sister needed VERY minimal alterations--just a little in the waist. They took in both sides all the way down, so she had to go back for them to fix it a 2nd time. From what the other brides and bm's waiting there were saying, it sounds like that is not uncommon.... It turned out great, just took more trips there than it should've. And ditto what mromag1 said--avoid Sat. if you can!!

I think eventually they can get anything done that you want but they're just horrible to work with.  They take forever and sometimes it takes more than once to do things that should be simple.  They lost one of my bridesmaid's dresses.  We got it back and ready to before before the wedding, but still - it was very nervewracking to think they'd lost it and to know we definitely didn't have enough time to order a new one.  Plus, the last time I was in there I overheard a girl who was saying she'd had them work on her wedding gown 3 separate times and it still wasn't right.  So, I guess I'd say just know that going in it probably won't be a seamless process.

I live in and out of town so I had my gown alterations done where I live.  My maids had no problems, but did not go in on Saturdays, just any other day.

I've gotten 2 BM dresses there. My sister and my cousin ordered their wedding dresses there.

My sister's dress was ordered WAY too big, but luckily she oredered an ugly dress and my mom told her that she needed to get a new one. (she ordered a white cotton BM dress instead of a normal wedding dress w/o anyone but her friend there with her)

I have only had to go once to get altered. My only complait is that I'm tall and i was told to get extra fabric and then my dress was way longer than everyone elses and i'm 5'11" or i'm holding up the dress and they have to take TONs of it in b/c they ordered too big of a size even when i haven't lost any weight. Jut because i'm a little bigger doesn't mean you need to order 2 sizes bigger for me.

Also don't go on a day like martin luther king day like i did.....big mistake, it may be a week day, but everyone else is off too lol
