for my first fitting? Unfortunately, it looks like I am going alone (sorta bummed) this Saturday to my first fitting. I have my shoes, so I know to bring those. But what is done during the first fitting? Is most it just pinning the hem and back? Or is it everything (figuring out bustle and removable straps)?

Other than shoes, make sure you have your undergarmets too. That way they can fit it properly. I'm not getting straps so I don't know about that, but I know my bustle is at my second fitting.

Bring with undergarments, shoes, and money (I had to pay that day). When I went, they altered and did my bustle. I've lost roughly 20 pounds since I purchased my dress, so it's a big alteration. If it helps, I went to David's Bridal.

I am having cups sewn in as well, so I think I am covered with the major undergarments. I might be the only one, but I am not planning on wearing spanx (way too uncomfortable!)

At my first fitting, she pinned the hem, pinned the bust where she was taking it in, and showed me 3 options for the bustle. Once I decided which bustle I wanted, she pinned that too.

I agree with PPs, wear your shoes and any undergarments that you will be wearing on wedding day.

I had my first fitting last week and just brought shoes in the same heel height as the ones I ordered online since I hadn't received them yet. At my place they take in the sides at the first fitting, then you have a second fitting (mine's next week) where they look at the hem and bustle. I'm bringing my veil, shoes and jewelry. My dress already has cups sewn in so you may also bring your undergarments.
