Really NWR - but helps!

My luggage was stolen from the airport when I returned from Houston in July. I received my remibursement check from the airline yesterday. It was roughly 75% of my total claim amount. The items I miss the most I simply cannot replace, and I am satisfied with that amount. I had planned to use the last of my little bit of savings for my photographer, and now I can use this! It will also allow me a little bit of mental  and financial relief while FI is job searching. (He is at the employment office this morning) Wish him luck!

  • I'm glad your check came in!... it always helps... we were so happy finally workers comp came in for me!!!

sending positive vibes to FI this morning for you!
  • Good thoughts for you and yours!  How nice that you received that added little bonus.  If you can pass the luck along, I'd appreciate it. We've been trying to settle a claim from a car accident near TWO YEARS AGO. We were rear-ended while sitting at a stop light and the guy at fault (well, his insurance) still won't settle with me. He settled with FI, who was the passenger, but I'm still waiting.  UGH!

Also, I think it is a good day for new work. One of my best friends was just hired today after a stretch of unemployment!  Here's hoping!

  • Glad that things worked out in your favor but I understand what you mean about the things you miss the most are the ones that can't replace. My mom sent me a care package one time that got stolen from the apartment's front office. Yes, I was upset because I knew she'd tucked a $100 bill inside it, but what I was most upset by was that some of my childhood momentos were in it that I'd wanted to display in my apartment. I was also pissed that the apartment complex refused to believe it'd been stolen and claimed I'd picked it up the day before.

Also, Jenna - it took over two years for a car accident to settle that my ex-husband was involved in. It was miserable while it was processing because we had to buy a new car with no trade in and no down payment, cover the medical bills from our own pocket, and replace his camera gear that had broken, but when we finally got that check ... well, let's say it paid off a lot more than just the car loan. It was worth the wait!!
