We don't have a venue and REALLY NEED HELP!

Hi ladies...and maybe gentleman?

Our wedding is Saturday July 31st this year.  Last July we started planning our wedding and booked a venue, caterer, dj, and photographer. At that point we were working with double our budget and things have since changed.  So we canceled the venue and had to cancel the photographer since she wasn't willing to change the package and lower her rate.  Our caterer and dj have happily adjusted everything - we cut our list down from 100 to 45 people.  So anyway, long story short, we now don't have a venue and I've been looking for months.  Because we still need to bring in our own caterer (we can't afford to lose the deposit) - its become a real challenge.  I've looked at vacation rentals and the owners have just not been helpful or reliable unfortunately.  We'd like to have an evening wedding and be able to play music until midnight.  I've been looking for primarily outdoors venues since we planned a summer wedding with the intention of being outdoors the whole time.  I'm now starting to flex a little (would still like the ceremony outdoors)...but I don't want to have to change everything I wanted.  OK, so I was hoping to come on here and see if anyone had suggestions of venues in the LA area? Any ideas, help, etc would be greatly appreciated.  Sorry so long...and thanks in advance.

Would you mind sharing what kind of budget you are hoping to use for this venue?

Have you thought about a private room at a restaurant?

Paramount studios will rent out different parts of the studio, too. But you would have to bring in everything.

Do you have a caterer booked, or can you ask some caterers about places they may know?

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply.  My budget for a venue alone is $3500 if it doesn't include anything for 50 people.  We do have a caterer which is part of the issue in finding a place that does allow us to bring our own caterer in.  My fiance really doesn't like the idea of a private room in a restaurant and it would be hard to bring our own caterer into that.

    Thanks again,
    shiri :)

Do you have any family or friends that would be open to you having the wedding at their house?  We're having an at-home wedding at my parent's house so we have to bring in everything - caterer, bartender, rentals etc and it's not any more expensive than renting a venue space.  If you end up going this way, let me know and I can send you info on our vendors.

thanks.  unfortunately, the only family i have in the country are my parents and though they own a home, we explored that option and it won't work.  we don't know anyone else that owns a home.  i was trying to rent a house but people either aren't up for it or the ones that were just became unreliable.  so i don't know what to do.  thanks again anyway. :)

Not sure where in L.A you are located but Orcutt Park  (West Hills) in the San Fernando Valley is outdoors, and allows you to bring in your own caterer. It's also outdoors.

SORRY just read that you want an evening wedding and midnight ending...Orcutt has a 9:30 curfew, so it may not work for you.

Have you tried the L.A Union Station? There's also Maravilla Gardens in Thousand Oaks.

I know you'd like music until midnight but The Clarke Estate is under your budget, it's a private estate outdoors.  The ceremony would be enclosed as if indoors but no ceiling.   Music is off at 10 though =/
message me if you'd like more info.
I know EXACTLY how you feel.  Our wedding was for April with double the budget and we had to push back to July and cut budget and guestlist and venue and everything.  We had all of our vendors booked and lost out on all deposits.  It'll work out, don't worry.

Check out the Camarillo Ranch house it is victorian style, with a barn and they allow you to bring in a caterer, but you would have to do everything yourself.

    Good luck!

McCormick Ranch in Camarillo lets you bring in everything.

I don't remember exactly, but I think Maravilla gardens may require you to bring a specific caterer.

Check out South Coast Botancial Gardens in Palos Verdes. They have an outdoor ceremony lawn and an events space for a reception venue. Hope it works out!

I don't know if this would help you, but I have a HUGE 700 page Here Comes the Guide wedding locations and services book I got for free at a bridal expo that I don't need. It lists every venue you can image including information about the venue and layout pictures. I would gladly give it to you if you'd lilke. Or you can just tell me the specific area in LA you are looking to get married in and I can look it up in the book for you.

Maybe they'd do a deal for you doing your own catering.

It's not LA. but Brea Community Center is beautiful and allows you to bring in a caterer. It's like 700/hr I believe. Its not outdoors, but there is a patio available to you. My sister had her reception there and it came out gorgeous. If not in Brea maybe you can find a community center closer to your area that's just as lovely.

Have you checked out the Puddingstone Lake in San Dimas, CA? Its on the far east side of Los Angeles County, but its outdoors, view of the lake, and i'm pretty sure they will accomodate your hours. Oh and they let you bring your own caterer too. My friend just booked there and her prices were very good since she's working with a tight budget. I was also in a wedding there about 10 years ago.
