Hello! Wednesday is FINALLY over. I work at a mental health facility, and we are planning some significant changes to one of our wards. Today we met with two of the shifts of current employees, to tell them about the changes and get their thoughts about how to make it successful. It was a tiring and very, very long day, but also very good.
Today is 10 days...tomorrow we go into single digits. We had our rehearsal last night, and the beginning was something of a mess.
First of all, unbelievably, I FORGOT!! I planned to leave work early but got caught up in a bunch of work things, and then my matron of honor texted me and I said: "HOLY COW!!!" I flew home and didn't get to eat dinner but we were on time.
So many questions I hadn't thought of, so many things I didn't know. I didn't ask my organist and my cantor to be there...they are doing the wedding as a favor for me, and they won't be doing anything outside of the regular liturgy, because we have a string quartet playing everything except the regular Mass music. I didn't want to impose on them by asking them to come to the rehearsal too.
We didn't know whether the string quartet would want to sit up front, near the cantor stand, or up in the choir loft, where they would have more room and could relax. BUT the choir loft is always locked because of the organ, and I thought the priest would have a key, but apparently he doesn't! So we had to call the organist anyway and she had to come out so we could get up to the choir loft. Fortunately, she was very sweet about it, though she obviously wasn't particularly pleased.
Anyway, once we answered the questions about the music during and after Communion, when to present the flowers to the Blessed Mother, where the family would sit, where the table with the pictures of my mom and his dad will be, and so on and so forth, it went okay. We didn't get to run through the whole thing, because our priest said, hey, once you get down the aisle, just do what I tell you! (He's a real sweetie.)
Today was crazy at work...there are some major things to manage before I leave (personnel and clinical) and I want to leave with a clear conscience! Fortunately, it means the time is going by quickly, LOL. Can't believe it's Wednesday already!
Hope you guys are having a good day!
Linda
