I said special snowflake. My answer would probably be photobooth, but it wasn't like we couldn't do it -- we didn't do it just because it seemed too overdone (I had been to many company parties and bars when I was planning the wedding that had photobooths). In retrospect maybe I was being silly and it would have been fun.

Something I really regret not knowing I could have done is lawn sports. I saw photos after our wedding of a cocktail hour at our venue and the couple had set up croquet and bocce and horseshoes. That would have been a really fun idea.

I would have liked, say, Yo-Yo Ma present on cello for the ceremony music but other than that, can't say there's anything else.

I'm glad I never considered lighting; it's just not my style & I don't know if this is true but a photgrapher said editing the pics when there's blue, pink, purple lighting (you get the idea) in a room can be a mess.

Maybe I'm too much of a purist.

I said ceremony musicians. It's not that we couldn't do it, I think we just decided it's more convenient for the DJ to do it. One less thing to coordinate and one less expense. But I think it would be elegant to have a string quartet for the ceremony. Oh well.

Jtheiss - Ditto that. For the wedding this weekend -no string players, it just didn't make sence $$ wise with a DJ. Also - wish we could have done uplighting - but again $ issues

I think it will be the perfect day for us / as close to budget as humanely possible.

I said ceremony musicians. We're having an organist and while I would have loved to have had a string quartet- it isn't exactly the end of the world. But if money were no object I would book them in a heartbeat!

A plane ticket so FI's dad can come from Spain. He hasn't seen him for about 15 years and FI misses him so much.

We are not doing a videographer.
It just wasn't in our budget.
A lot of my married friends tell me they never watch theirs, that its a waste, blah blah blah... but part of me is sad we won't have one.
Yeah, my uncle is going to capture some of it on home movie ro whatever, but I know it won't be the same.
Still ~ FI & I decided our money would be better spent on other aspects of our wedding.

I really want a photobooth! Everyone I know is telling me how stupid it is and that no one will use it.. but i know otherwise lol but alas it is not in the budget.

:-) Thanks, Vanessa. It's so true though... that's why I want to see if we can maybe set up a laptop and skype his dad in to talk to FI at our reception. Or somehow allow him to watch the ceremony as it takes place.

I voted "Nothing," because there wasn't anything that immedaitely came to mind that we didn't have. Not that we had a lot ... we wanted something on the simpler side from the get-go, and that's what we had. I splurged on the photobooth the week before the wedding and I'm really glad I did, otherwise that would've been my big regret.

Now that I'm thinking about it, though, I wish we could've afforded to book the bigger room at the Tides (the upstairs one with the windows), just because the downstairs room was a little weird with no windows and low ceilings. I don't think anyone but us really took notice of that, though, and people seemed to have a great time, so it's not a huge regret, per se. Just something I wish we had the extra cash for.

That would be so nice... Would you do it as a surprise foryour FI? It would be nice if @ the reception you put him on a big screen. AW! I love your idea. You should def look in to that.

At the moment, I'm happy with where we are going... but I'm sure that something will come up. Probably a fancy car to take pictures with... I really, really love cars, and right now we don't plan on having a limo (don't need one), so...

Just so you guys know there are options out there I got a strip trio for $480 for the ceremony, they can even stay for the cocktail hour for an extra $100....

So far I think I have everything we really wanted for the wedding.....I'm hoping it will be perfect. I do wish I could buy perfect weather....lol

I would say nice chair covers. I hate the ones that my venue has so I am not using them but I would love to get something in their place but the extra money is just not in our budget.

I wish we'd srpung for extra lighting. We had no windows in our room so the uplighting would have looked really nice. Our pics came out a little too dark for my liking. I was afraid the uplighting would look gaudy so we didn't go for it. I also wish we'd have just sprung for real flower centerpieces. I wanted a simple look, but even small CPs that were real flowers would have looked better than the mirrors and candles that I had. It didn't look bad, but just not as nice as flowers would have.

I totally agree with the idea of a wedding planner!!! Gosh, I've discovered through planning our wedding that I really don't love all the work and detail-oriented tasks. I put <u>so</u> much time into researching all of my vendors and to find pictures/ideas/etc. I totally would hire a wedding planner if I could do it all over again.

I voted special snowflake.

I'm not currently planning, but one "thing" that I really, really would like is a live artist painting the scene - the type where you get to keep the canvas and the guests get to watch the progress.

I'm sure these are expensive - but I was an Art History major as an undergrad, SO and I visit museums all the time, I love "real" art - etc.

Who knows if when I do actually plan if this will be something I will really do, but as of now, it seems "important' to me and is something I would like that is different.
