So, we've had some bad news in my family - my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. It's been a scary few weeks, but the good news is that it's treatable. However, it sounds like she's going to be in the middle of chemotherapy in June, or else recovering from major surgery (they're still ironing out her treatment plan).
Our wedding was supposed to take place halfway across the country from where she lives, but we're all worried that June might roll around and she would have a hard time traveling - and the last thing I want is for my mom to miss my wedding. SO...we're moving the wedding to Arizona, where she lives.
The funny thing is that in some ways, it's going to be easier this way anyway - she and my sister are both there, and I don't have any family in the place where we were originally going to have the wedding. This means less money spent on hotel rooms and all sorts of other things.
At the same time, it also means that we'll almost certainly have fewer people show up than we otherwise would have, because it's much farther - a half-day's flight instead of a half-day's drive - for many of our guests.
I don't know. It's a huge change, and we're only three months out, and I'm scrambling to find a new minister, photographer, etc. (Luckily I've already found a venue.) And I'm also worrying about my mom. So I guess this is just kind of a venting post...thanks for listening, everybody.

Re: big change of plans...
I think its amazing to move the wedding at home for your mom. I hope she does well with her treatments and will pray for a speedy recovery. I'm sure all the wedding details will fall into place. Good luck!

Next, that's wonderful that you're able to bring the wedding to her! If possible, give some vendors a call to see if they'll travel - my photog, for instance, will absolutely travel to get to a wedding if she can, and many will travel to a wedding for only the cost of the plane ticket.
Good luck to all of you!
[QUOTE]Oh wow. First of all, my thoughts & prayers for your mother, you, and your family. Regardless of the treatability of her cancer, I am sure it won't be an easy journey. Best wishes to you all. <div>Sorry to hear about your mom. Definitely call your vendors, you might not have to lose your deam vendors. Everything will work out and what's most important (family) will be there!</div>
