So..we left our dresses at David's Bridal

and it is a really odd feeling!

My sister (MOH) and I went in today for our first fitting. She needs a few tucks at the bust and waist, and is shortening her dress to tealength. $125

I need a little bit of hemming in the front, and a LOT taken up a the bust and waist. They are also tacking on my sash for me. $225

I am sick about the cost of alterations, I really intended on a secondhand dress WITH alterations for $200 or less and have now spent $475 (Mother bought my dress, and I said I would pay for 'extras' - jacket, sash, bra, alterations...gulp) However, I digress. It is what it is, and I will work that out.

I am really unsettled at how it felt to leave my dress! It has been at Mother's house, and we don't return to try them on and (hopefully) take them home until September 12. So...important check to have at this point, but so strange to realize I feel like I 'own' that dress and it isn't where it should be!

  • I hear you. When I left my dress at the seamstress after my first fitting I was a little nervous. I know it's safe there and the seamstress is highly recommended by my DOC and well reviewed but it's a big thing.

  • My first fitting is this Sunday! All we have to do is add bra cups and put in a bustle. I didn't even think about stressing out about leaving it there! AHHH!

  • I don't take my dress home until the week of the wedding. I bought my dress in Oct, it came in in Feb, had fitting #1 in June, and fitting #2 this Fri...not sure if I'll need fitting #3. The dress store stores the dress for you and the seamstress picks up the dress from the store while to work on it and then delivers it back to the store. I'd be more nervous having my dress at home, at least when it's at the store it's their responsibility if something happens to it.

  • I havent had my dress since I picked it up. I sent it to my FFILs house so FI wouldnt peek and they live 45 minutes out of town so I havent seen it since the day I picked it up. I think it probably helps because I wont have that anxiety after leaving it with the seastress but my fitting isn't till September. She said since I am losing weight she would rather do it later than earlier and doesn't think it will be a big deal (:

  • I left my dress with the seamstress last month.  I don't go back to see it until the end of this month.
