Any brides doing a northern honeymoon?

Hi all, I just love reading about all these honeymoons on this board!  But I have to wonder, am I the only bride not heading south?

We're going to a resort in Couer d'Alene (super gorgous mountain resort in Idaho).  It'll be during one of their wine tasting weeks, at the height of fall color, and we get our own private cabin the entire week.  All the activites are paid for: ziplining, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, archery, golfing, guided hikes, etc.  Apparently the entire facility is over 60,000 acres.  Eeeee can't wait!!!!!

So how about it brides?  Any other honeymooning birds pointing their beaks north after their wedding?

  • That sounds great! My best friend went to Colorado for her honeymoon but it wasn't a resort or anything. They just rented a cabin.

  • We were going to go to Banff National Park, until H's father offered us his resort membership in Mexico (which means we went for literally half the price).
I still want to go really really bad!
  • My wedding is Saturday. We leave Monday for the Canadian Rocky Mountains (Banff and Jasper National Parks) for about 10 days. Looking forward to it.

Wine and fall leaves sound lovely. :)
  • oh i loved Lake Coeur D'Alene!! Dh and I were there a few years ago. The lake is gorgeous and the town is fun.
    enjoy :)

Awhh, thanks! Just trying to get through the last 4 days in one piece. :)
  • YES!!!  We did an 11 day roadtrip to the Canadian Rockies (Banff, Jasper, Yoho NP).  We drove there from Utah so 2500 miles all in all.  We actually got married on this trip, but overall it was also the honeymoon!

We hiked 9 consecutive days in a row - 6 national parks, and 2 Provincial parks in Canada!  We headed east to more mountains in Revelstoke and Nelson.

I am preparing a blog of the trip since there's just too much for a post!
  • udream05 How's that goin for you?!! I'm planning on honeymooning in Alaska as well : when are you going?!
  • I am also jealous! I love cool weather - fall, even winter. I also love historic stuff. My fiance is a warm-weather destination person. His ideal would be Hawaii, Jamaica, Cancun - anywhere tropical. My skin hasn't seen sun since 1990. ;)  We're going to start talking about our honeymoon soon - it's going to be challenging.

We also have an issue because I don't know how much time I'll have off by then. I'm adopting a baby (had this in the works before I met him) and I'm now #1 on the list. In order to take FMLA, you have to use up all of your vacation time. So the only vacation time I'll have for next September is whatever I accrue post FMLA. It may not leave us a lot of time to travel.
