Vendor Reviews

Venue - Church Landing, Meredith, NH - A++++
I can't say enough about CL. We worked with Hilary, and she was incredibly helpful. In the months (and years!) leading up to the wedding, DH and I felt very confident and comfortable in our decision to go with CL, despite the hefty price tag to just use the facilities. We were taken care of through the entire process. Our guests were impressed with the hotel rooms (especially those we upgraded from Mill Falls) and the banquet facility. We arrived early to the cocktail hour and CL immediately brought us drinks and snacks while we waited for the sun to move for pictures. Our sneak peek of the reception was awesome. They did an incredible job setting up the room and making it perfect. The food was fantastic (food is done by the Common Man family of restaurants). Everything exceeded our expectations. CL handles around 8 weddings a weekend between CL and The Chase House, but we felt like we were the only wedding they had the entire weekend. I seriously can't say enough about Church Landing.

Church - St. Matthew Church, Plymouth NH - A
No problems. The church was beautiful and not too hot on the day of. It was a little difficult to get in contact with the priest and the music coordinator, but everything worked out pretty well. Our ceremony was perfect.

Photography - Catharine Morris Photography, LLC - B+/A- (pending photos)
Caty is extremely professional on the day of the wedding. She came in, saw the layout of the bridal suite, asked to move the dresses, and got to work. I barely saw her while I was getting ready, except when she popped in to take some pictures. When we got to the cocktail hour for pictures, the sun created a harsh shadow on the ground. Caty refused to take pictures because of it; she wanted to wait until the shadow covered the ground and us so we could get the best quality pictures. We were pretty impressed with that. I didn't feel like she was in our face the entire time, but I know she was there documenting the entire day.
I give her a B+/A- (pending stellar photos) for a few reasons. During the reception she seemed kind of frustrated that we had not finished our table visits so that we could go outside to take pictures. Before the wedding, it was very difficult to get information about our remaining balance. When we initially met with her, we were told she would send an invoice about our remaining balance. I know her husband takes care of the financial part, but it was still frustrating. Final payment is supposed to be due a month before the wedding, and she didn't give me our final balance until a week before. It was a stressful time and this just added unnecessary stress. I used Caty for my b-pics (they were AWESOME, and DH loved them), but it took about 2 month to get the proofs.

Reception Music - DJ Dave Lynch - A+++
Dave was awesome. Plain and simple. He was in constant contact with us, and he was so helpful leading up to the wedding. My FIL said, "I've never seen a better DJ. He's phenomenal!"

Cocktail Hour Music - Craig Fahey, Exclusive Music NH - A+
Craig worked with a bassist and he plays keyboard, so we had great low-key music to listen to during the cocktail hour. He was very professional and easy to work with. If you are interested, you can catch Craig at Unwined in Manchester!! That's where we found him :)

Flowers - Lyndsey Loring Design - A+++
The flowers were beautiful. I loved my bouquet. Lyndsey's sister delivered the flowers and wasn't aware that I wanted a brooch and rosary attached to the bouquet. Even with a time crunch, she made sure it was perfect. About 2 weeks before the wedding, I realized I ordered a corsage for DH's grandmother when I meant to get a nosegay. Lyndsey changed it with no problems (this meant a lot to Nana, as she wanted to carry callas at her wedding, but they were out of season. She was so excited to have them - she still has them!). The flowers at the church were beautiful, and we were able to take the pew wreaths and move them to the reception, where they were placed along the bookshelves. The centerpieces were gorgeous and we kept hearing how much people liked them.

Cake - Jacques Pastries - A
Our cake was delicious! It was so beautiful too! The only reasons I'm not giving them an A+ are because they were a little confusing with the flowers I wanted on the cake, and I paid way too much. I called and asked to cut about 50 servings of cake, and they said they could do that, but we ended up with an entire layer of cake left over (plus our top to save). Had they actually cut out 50 servings, instead of the much less I suspect they did, I wouldn't have had so much leftover.

Tuxes - Men's Wearhouse - A+
Easy to work with, great selection. One of our groomsmen had an issue with his vest and jacket, and while it was stressful and somewhat last minute, all the guys looked great on the day of. They were even pretty cool about one of the guys returning his tux with no hanger and basically balled up in the bag. That's what an open bar does to people I guess!

Bridal Gown, BM dresses, MOG/B dresses - Madeleine's Daughter - Sales A+, Alterations B/B+
I loved buying my dress. I loved the process of BM dresses and mothers' dresses. I felt like there was no pressure to buy at any time. Alterations were rather stressful. I was told when I purchased the gown that everything I wanted to change would be possible. On my first alterations appointment, Rendy didn't seem confident that she would be able to make it happen. In the end, she did, but it was very stressful. I felt like their alterations department was rude (Rendy was nice) when I called, and pickup was a nightmare. I arrived about 10 minutes early and the dress wasn't brought out until 10 minutes after my appointment time. They didn't seem happy that I wanted to try it on one last time (I hadn't even tried sitting in it - whoops). I feel like if you have spend as much money as I did on a dress and alterations, you should be able to try it on and make sure it is perfect before you leave the store. Apparently not, according to MD, without some major eye rolling and sighs.

Thank you for sharing all of your reviews! We actually are using a lot of the same vendors.

We are getting married at Church Landing & also using Dave Lynch as our DJ. I also have set up an appointment with Lyndsey Loring for the flowers!!

I also have an appointment this month to try on dresses at MD's. I've heard mixed reviews at Madeline' daughter, so I really hope the experience I have there is okay. :)

Thanks again & if you have any other advice on what to expect with these vendors please let me know!

    Thanks again!

Thanks for posting! We are thinking of going through Men's Warehouse for our tuxes for the GM.  They are all in different states so we thought going through a chain would be easier for them to get to for picking out and trying on their tuxes.  That's great to know you had such a good experience.

Thank you for posting these vendor reviews...they are very helpful to those of us that are still  in the planning phases.  We're probably going to use Jacques Pasteries also, (what flavor cake did you get?).  Thinking about Lyndsey Loring as a possible florist to meet with..,just concerned about how far away she is from our venue and wanting the flowers to look fresh.  The wedding/reception is in Jaffrey and she's over on the seacoast.  We'll also meet with vendors who are a little closer and then make a decision.

We had 3 different flavors with Jacques - white with raspberry, almond with raspberry, and chocolate and hazelnut. We had 4 tiers and the top one was white with raspberry (we'll eat that in a year).

Our wedding was in Plymouth and the reception was in Meredith. Both are over an hour from Lyndsey, but the flowers looked amazing!
